Lotus went a bit backwards today, very oversteery compared to yesterday, i wonder if it's something they did to the car or simply track conditions.

RedBull ran their tyres to the absolute end in the beggining of the session and i think they are definitely stopping 4 times + in this race, still a very good bet for pole with Vettel though.

Mediums flat spot easily on the bumpy braking zones of Malaysia, both Hamilton and Perez got to experience it.

I think track conditions were not so good, as today the whole field didnt improve by much, despite maybe most doing atleast a Qualy Sim.

Frankly, I only see potential of even FI, for instance, being faster than Mercedes. Won't be surprised if Mclaren and Sauber take on as well soon
I don't see FI being quicker than Mercedes in qualy or the races anytime soon.

Artur Craft does. Cant see it myself. It just seems he has nothing good to say about Mercedes, I dont like Red Bull or Ferrari, but I can appreciate how good they are, and how fast they are. Some people just cant seem to see past their hate.

Back on topic, looks like rain is closing in. I hope it stays dry, but its going to be rain apparently. :(

Toto Wolf said on RTL that both drivers are moaning about a little bit to oversteery car and they are working to cure that in FP3. Another thing that they are doing is trying how long the medium tyre last and Nico did a 13 lap stint to answer that ...

Edit: FIA records says he did a 10 lap stint :http://184.106.145.74/f1-championship/f ... 0Times.pdf

Which has to be encouraging as it appeared the Red Bull struggled at about lap 10 on the harder tyres earlier in the same session. Does anyone know if the hards Red Bull used, and the Mediums Rosberg used were all new ?

I believe Hamilton and Rosberg were on fresh mediums.

Something that @virtualstatman noticed, but I unfortunately didn't:

"So, Vettel set the best time of FP3 when his medium tyres were 6 laps old!? When they were 8 laps old, he set a time good enough for 3rd..."

I don't think we'll see a non-red bull on pole today.

Both RBR drivers did a 10 lap stint on the hard tyre and their times were very consistent in the 1.44 bracket and it was just 1 sec. between the fastest and the slowest time ...
What's bothering me is that Mercedes drivers are the slowest in the speed trap : http://www.formula1.com/results/season/ ... _trap.html
Did they copy last years RBR philosophy or they have a wet setup in mind?

I'm not quite sure they're too different - high stability, high grip setups, both with an eye for increasing corner pace, even if it sacrifices straight line pace, because the increased cornering pace outweighs the straight line loss.
