Passing Lewis in the 1st DRS zone wasn't a very good idea as lewis passed him again in the 2nd DRS zone, which kept rosberg behind him for the entire lap. I think this happened thrice. Had Rosberg overtaken lewis on the main straight he had a good chance of staying in front and no team orders would ve been required.
While watching the race I was a little pissed that Rosberg was asked to stay behind but when I thought about it, he had his chances, and the result in the end was good for the team. The thing to note is that both drivers did a superb race and got 27 points for Mercedes. Rosberg will get his podium soon.
A great verdict. I felt sorry for Nico, but like Spadeflush said, Nico had his chances. They were racing up to the last pit stops and then they were told to stay in position. Totally fair. Other teams race this way. Who ever leads after the last stops gets to finish infront. Im sure the drivers know this, It was just the fact that Nico was prob thinking Lewis was in trouble and he could go alot faster. Once Ross told him that Lewis could also go alot faster Nico seemed to quiet down.
Im sure if Button was still in the race and was close to the Mers's they wouldnt have hesitated in letting Nico through. It was just that they were so far ahead of the rest of the field they could have both drivers hold position.
On the plus side, Merc were closer to the Front than Ferrari were to Merc, even with alot of fuel saving. Positives all round if you ask me. Hopefully they have a strong race in China & Bahrain to have good momentum into Europe
