I'm not convinced Nico was faster. Lewis was slightly faster in all the former stints than Nico, and Nico was not sufficiently faster to pull away from Hamilton after passing him in the final stint. I do agree that the two are very closely matched in a race though.
When did the first teamorder come for Rosberg? Lap 51 or so?
I think he would have easily pulled a gap in 5/6 laps.
1) He got past several times, and got immediately repassed. 2) The team have repeatedly hinted that Rosberg too would would have run out of fuel in doing so.

He was immediately repassed because of second DRS zone right after the first one :) Otherwise the live timing looked Iike he would gone into distance once he passes...

Hamilton was fuel saving from "an early point in the race"
Rosberg had the whole race to pass (which he did a few times but ultimately drew the short stick everytime)

Had he been a little bit smarter he should have waited for the second DRS zone then passed.

Interesting thread. Firstly lets get the obvious ones out of the way:

Red Bull - Vettel
Ferrari - Alonso
McLaren - Button
Lotus - Raikkonen
Sauber - Hulkenberg

Now, for the rest:
Williams - hard to say. I'll go for Bottas just for the hell of it.
Mercedes - Lewis
Force India - Sutil, by far.
Caterham - Pic
Marussia - Bianchi

i agree with you, but i'd put bianchi in the obvious section. He seems to be on average 1 sec in front of chilton in every session

Average NOW, but before Australia FP1 I'm not sure many people would've called it

That was what I thought as well soon after he was re-passed by Hamilton. But I don't think it's that easy, I don't recall that there were many more "re-passes"? No one else seemed to have trouble passing and then holding on to that position after the second straight(I might be wrong), so I guess he messed up the exit from the curve.

It's interesting this one – Considering that DiResta equalled Sutil in the first race (1 second behind with 1 lap to go, closing 2 seconds a lap, and asked not to make the pass), and then was comprehensively beating Sutil in the second race (passed him, and then drove off into the distance), until the pit stop disaster.

I at the moment think it looks like DiResta is going to beat Sutil, and not by a small margin.

Rookie of the year for sure. Certainly Marussia will have to depend on him to beat Caterham this season.

He doesn't have the raw pace. He is good on a few races, but i doubt we'll see him outpacing Sutil most of the time.
He's much steadier however, so it can happen, but i feel the margins will be quite marginal.

Oh yeah,
Massa will smash Alonso against the rocks this year. It looks like he's really on form and ferrari have decided to call it even stevens on drivers after 3 years of putting Alonso in the #1 position.
He seems to have an advantage in quali. The race may be what Alonso sets up for, but so far Massa is on a roll.
For Sure!!

Is this your prediction after only two races? Alonsos weakness, if you can call it that, surely is raw single lap pace. His strenght is his racecraft, what did Massa achive in the last race, from second to fifth?! So basically he performed well in the first race and now he's going to smash Alonso? I'm not so sure. The same story goes for Sutil.

When Massa is on top of his game he is one of the fastest guys in the paddock so i´m not surprised he´s edging ALO in Quali.

The race is a different matter though, and that´s where Alonso is unreal 99% of the time.

I agree with your general analysis of DiResta's style. From my observation of the first two races though, when DiResta is having a steady race (aus), he appears to equal Sutil. When he's having a good race (malaysia), he's significantly faster.
