Help with motorsports terminology

Post

Hello. I'm translating motorsports article (JP to EN). I need help from someone who has good knowledge of motorsports and high English proficiency.
[Gearbox]
A machine consists of speed-changing gears.
F3 cars use six-speed sequential transmission, made by UK's Hewland Engineering.
Sequential is a type which you move lever back and forth to shift gears.
Up until 2001, H-pattern type was used, which is common on road cars.
It also have reverse gear.
Can somebody proofread these sentences? I'm concerned that the terms and phrases are correct. Thanks in advance.

*edit: DONE

The information inside is correct, though many styles can be used for such data. What is the audience of the text?

Generic one could sound like that:
The transmission used in Formula 3 cars is six-speed sequential, made by UK's Hewland Engineering.
This is the type of transmission where gears are selected in strict order and direct access to certain gears is not possible.
Up until 2001, H-pattern type was used, which is common for road cars [what about now? rephrase if needed] and it also features a reverse gear.

sorry to bother you guys. I've got some other texts that I need help.
[body/chassis]
It's made of monocoque (monocock?) structure, which frame and the external skin is united and very strong.
Dallara manufactures the majority of F3 chassis.
In order to reduce cost for competitors, full model change is done once in every 3 years.
Material is *carbon fibre which is stuck in between aluminum and honeycomb structure which is made of very strong synthetic fiber called polyamide fibre.
It provides great safety.
* Is this about Carbon-fiber-reinforced polymer? I'm completely lost with the sentence... I don't know how to translate it into good english. :?

*edit: This is my last effort of rephrasing the line;

"Material used is carbon sandwiched by alminium and honeycomb made of very strong synthetic fiber; aramid. "

better than the first one?
