I disagree. Sure temps had something with it too but it wasn´t like just because you had the temps in check you had two pairs of Bridgestones in your hands.

They definitely had a wear cliff.

Degradation, not wear is what happens now.

Wear is what we need, a tyre that when put on Pirelli's reference F1 car will last X laps before you physically run out of rubber and start to see canvas.

The softs last less distance than the hards and are grippier. Y'know, like tyres used to be. Watched Monza 08 again and it was interesting that the racing happened because the full wets ran out of tread block, just as in Canada 10 iirc.

Instead we've got some sort of chemical bull**** designed to make us talk about tyres.

To get back to the team order debacle and to add a little more justification to Brawn's decision.
It may seem a little cold, but it's quite clear Brawn is playing the numbers game, which is the most secure way to ensure your team is best placed to win a championship.

Have a look at this, let's give Nico his three points, for the sake of ego and emotions:
Current standings...
1 Sebastian Vettel ....... Red Bull Racing-Renault 40
2 Kimi Räikkönen ........ Lotus-Renault 31
3 Mark Webber............Red Bull Racing-Renault 26
4 Lewis Hamilton .........Mercedes 25
5 Felipe Massa.............Ferrari 22
6 Fernando Alonso.........Ferrari 18
7 Nico Rosberg............ Mercedes 12

Now this is how it will look if Nico had the satisfaction for getting that distant third place, which no one will remember near season's end :
1 Sebastian Vettel ....... Red Bull Racing-Renault 40
2 Kimi Räikkönen ........ Lotus-Renault 31
3 Mark Webber............Red Bull Racing-Renault 26
4 Lewis Hamilton .........Mercedes 22
5 Felipe Massa.............Ferrari 22
6 Fernando Alonso.........Ferrari 18
7 Nico Rosberg............ Mercedes 15

It really changes nothing in the points standing. If anything it strengthens Ferrari's challenge for the front and weakens mercedes challenge for the top spot; while giving Webber breathing room as well. Lewis and Massa would be on the same points and Nico would still be nowhere in seventh. I could understand if both were pretty close up the front on points, but on a team perspective Ross did the right thing. He has increased mercedes outlook on a championship challenge, for both championships, by maximisig the numbers game for the big picture.
I really don't see the justification for letting the two driver's race at that chritcal stage of the race, where tyres and fuel was a concern. As it does nothing but please driver egos, when the team has more priority especially since they haven't been in such a great position since the revival of mercedes f1.

So in conclusion, the arguement of #1 driver shouldn't be involved. The move was clearly for the team. It has nothing to do with what's in any driver's contract.

"So, Nico, we fitted a bad battery to your car at the last race? We're going to take 3 points off you then and give them to Lewis, thank you very much!"

Certainly would appear to be Mr Brawn's last year on the pitwall though. Sad.

Seems that way, which is unfortunate, as he is one of my favourite Team Principal's in the sport.

He should buy an old Super Aguri and launch a 'Brawn GP' team, might do ok?

If he gets a few wins and put mercedes in a formidable possition, i don't think anyone can force him out.
Wolf is not stupid either so Brawn will stay if success happens.

Interesting words from Lewis regarding the Mercedes SIM.

Lewis Hamilton ‏@LewisHamilton 2m

Just finished testing in China, am now going on to Bahrain. The SIM is pretty special, hard to make it realistic but work in progress

Sounds like Ferrari, Mercedes is working to improve their SIM to the level of McLaren.
