How many races has a Ferrari customer engine won? The fact their units are not a cost effective option and when you include the baggage from Maranello it's even less appealing.
It seems likely that Honda will hitch their wagon to Macca next year and that leaves an opening for a Mercedes engine supply.

I could be wrong, but I think the answer is a big fat ONE. Toro Rosso at Monza 08.

Currently all the engines(except for Cosworth) are roughly similar in price and performance. What baggage from Maranello do you refer to?

The baggage is that Teams allied to Ferrai are usually induced to vote with Ferrari at FOM meetings even if it means voting for changes that do not benefit them as customers. They end up becoming a Ferrari lackey team,
AFAIK Cosworth still is the cheapest engine even with a Williams KERS.

I've been thinking, with Honda supposedly coming into F1 in 2015 they could get Mercedes engine data via Mclaren and Ferrari engine data via Marussia if Marussia decide to use the Ferrari units in 2014 and switch to Honda for 2015. If I recall correctly the Ferrari unit is cheaper than the Mercedes one to.

I dnt think Marussia can pull off a deal where they can use Ferrari engines for just 1 year and switch to Honda the following year. NO manufacturer will sign such a deal, knowing that a new manufacturer is about to come into the picture. McLaren's is a special case, only made possible because of the one sided option.

New engine partner

We are delighted to announce a new engine partnership with Scuderia Ferrari

Marussia Technical Centre, Banbury, UK
16 July 2013, 08.00hrs BST (GMT-1)/09.00hrs CET

The Marussia F1 Team and Scuderia Ferrari are pleased to announce the agreement of a new technical partnership which will see our Team benefiting from a full Ferrari powertrain with effect from the 2014 season.
As a Scuderia Ferrari customer team and within the terms of the 2014 regulations, the Marussia F1 Team will receive the supply of an Internal Combustion Engine and Energy Recovery System, full transmission and all related ancillary systems.

Andy Webb, CEO, Marussia F1 Team
“The Marussia F1 Team is delighted to be entering into a technical partnership with Scuderia Ferrari for the supply of a full powertrain from 2014. The importance of this development to our Team cannot be overstated. Not only will we benefit from a customer supply from the most successful engine manufacturer in Formula One’s history, but this also provides further confirmation, if it were needed, of our commitment to the sport and determination to maintain our progression towards our long-term ambitions. The new powertrain regulations being introduced next year represent the most substantial engine development within the sport since the introduction of the V8 formula and are all the more significant for the increased contribution of the Energy Recovery System. We look forward to working with Scuderia Ferrari during this exciting new era of Formula One competition. We would also like to take this opportunity to thank Cosworth, with whom we have partnered since our debut season in 2010. We have shared an important part of our Team’s journey together and Cosworth have been an integral part of our clear progression. We will continue to work together during the latter half of the season to ensure we all achieve our combined objectives before Cosworth leave the sport.”

Fire at the factory has damaged computer equipment. Hopefully it's not too serious.
