If there are two DRS zones in the position shown then it could become very interesting. After overtaking on the long straight a driver is usually vulnerable on the next small straight, corner and home straight as the two cars are very close together as shown in previous Chinese grand prix , a second DRS zone could just be enough to mean the place could be retaken.

Also while im here why is Vettel being so mouthly (Don't know if it is the media spin or serious), Id expect Red bull would keep him on a short lead at this race but it seems his PR man has not gone out to China. Why say sorry my mistake and come back three weeks later and say I'd do it again

If Hamilton is not available, who will take his vacated seat?

Isn't Anthony Davidson a Mercedes test driver when he's not doing sky? Maybe he will get a go, im pretty sure the team has a few other test drivers to, maybe one of them if they are there in china.

Edit: never mind he's much better according to his twitter, on his way to the track.

I know it's only FP1 but the Merc Performance is impressive nevertheless. Autosport reports that Rosberg did his fastest lap in the 10th lap of a stint. They also mentioned that Merc seems to have the best long run performance.

I think Hamilton did the same. He was on the same run that he locked up on earlier in the stint. Most impressive by Mercedes. Reckon frick had anything to do with it? The change in elevation in the last corner saved them some time, at least it looked like that to me.

Both Hamilton and Rosberg were posting times in the 1:41s where as both Vettel and Webber were in the high 1:43s, so fuel is definitely a factor, but you're right, Mercedes do look impressive so far, and also they're second quickest in the speed traps.
