Hamilton has had track position in each race hasn't he. But in clear air both Mercedes drivers mostly do identical lap times. No surprises when it comes to who's top in each team apart from Bottas really, which im quite happy about because I like to think he's the next flying fin.

I think Rosberg will come back strongly. He's had 2 DNF's. But I also think Hamilton will still beat him. As more time passes Hamilton will start to feel more comfortable in the car and perform better.

As for Massa... there are spurts of brilliance but no brilliant performances like Alonso. But it's certainly a better performance than last two years. Ferrari need Massa to perform so that they have a shot at WCC.

Grosjean is another one... he's nowhere close to Raikonnen... though atleast he's not crashing into everybody. But he is getting shortshifted a bit with car updates. If any team has a clear 1-2, it's Lotus.

As for Webber... He's certainly not going to beat Vettel... theres already a bit of a lead... but I do wish he'd show a bit more fire and give Vettel a harder time. But I think if he hasn't done it till now, then he's not gonna do it now either. Webber just isn't in the class of Vettel, unfortunately.

Though it was expected, it still surprises me how much Perez is getting thrashed by Button. It makes me curious if McLaren hired Perez so they can have a naturally faster #1 driver in Button without having situations where drivers of mostly equal ability are taking points off each other or they would need to employ team orders/favoritism to slow down one of the drivers.

I wouldnt have thought so. If they wanted a clear number 1, they would/could have just put No.2 driver on the new contract offered to any driver coming in. Hulkenberg and Di Resta would be better than Perez in my opinion. And both of thos drivers in Sep/Oct last year would rip your arm off for a Mclaren Driver No.2 contract. They both probably would now, even with Mclaren struggling.

A no.2 driver only suffers when your running close or around the no.1 driver. If it turns out your better than Jenson and Qualify 2 or 3 places infront of him, the Team wont move you behind Jenson as you most probably have cars between you and Jenson.

I don't think so either. It seems clear that McLaren made a long-term investment by signing Perez, so there wouldn't be much point in bringing in a young driver with potential as a number two. As I said before the season started, I just feel Perez is massively overrated. I think Hulkenberg in last year's Sauber would have won a race or two.

But it's not fair to judge him just yet. I remember Massa having a bit of a tough time in his first three races for Ferrari as well back in '06.

Agreed. Perez is a tad overrated. The Sauber last year was a great car with great tyre management. Button is outperforming him by a lot currently.

I'd say Perez was looking a little better than Button today.

Agreed, but button has outperformed him for the rest of the season. Lets see where it goes in future races.

Just to give a heads up to the rookies, I think we should give them until the Monaco Grand Prix to sort themselves out (and with the backmarkers, consider if upgrades have gone to only one car(like with Caterham this weekend)). Looking back, you will see that most drivers need about 4 to 6 races to really get comfortable with F1 races, so I'm reserving my judgement on the rookies -even Chilton- until then.

I think if it wasn't for team orders Perez would have taken Button today.

Red Bull probably have as good a chance as Lotus and Ferrari. It's between these three... Merc and Mclaren both have issues that are hampering them.
