Red Bull RB9 Renault

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

Finishing races is important, but racing is more important.

Oh hai tunnels!

What's the line running across the bottom of the SMHole on the floor shots? Hydraulic or fuel?

Very nice picture of the floor. RBR isn't going to like that one.

Have they removed 4 of the 6 vertical strakes on top of the diffuser? Or aren't they installed yet?

Yeah, it must be for blowing through the newly opened axle ala Williams

I think on of the front break duct inlets is now variable. But i don´t know if it´s for break cooling or for the new axle.

Why do you think that? Because it is on the Red Bull or just because it looks cool?

The vortex generator? It's there since Jerez. The slitted air outlet is way more interesting. I wonder what purpose it serves.

Because it's easy to copy and test.

And here I was thinking teams put on different parts because they are quicker or have more potential. But it seems like everything on a car is there because it is easy to copy/test.

Really, that flip up is nothing new, iic it was already used in 2010 bij Ferrari and other teams used it too in the past year. Just because some part is on the Red Bull or because it looks cool doesnt mean it is better.
