Track design

All that has to do with the power train, gearbox, clutch, fuels and lubricants, etc. Generally the mechanical side of Formula One.

Track design

Post

Hi, I'm a spanish student of civil engineering, and I'm making a project about a F1 circuit. I've several questions about track design...
- What's the minimum radius corner? How about 20 m?
- If the principal winds in the project zone are from north to south, how should I orientate the longest straight of the track?
-please tell me if you know webs about tracks design

It's my first post, nice to meet you!!

Minimum radius corner would have to be Riscasse at Monaco, which is definitely less than a 20m radius. Maybe 10m there.. however, its a street circuit that is more of a tradition than anything, a true circuit would not be that tight. Nurburging's hairpin is pretty tight.

I'd imagine the longest straight goes into the wind?

Thanks for the link. That's a good site. Looking at the new Bahrain circuit map, it reminds me very much of the A1 ring. In terms of general circuit layout. Not much different.

What do you guys think?
