The funniest stuff is usually true, after Martin slid down the road on his ear he got out, climbed the hill back up to the pits, jumped in the spare car and was about to get out on track before he revealed he was concussed by asking which way the track went.

As for the questions, from that pic I wouldn't know the answers had I not heard of this crash, although there are subtle hints.

Well, dutch "Kijk" magazine had an article about crashes in F1 a few years back describing several such events. It may sound dry, but that's how extremely determined these drivers are to keep going and doing what they're good at. It's only at those rare points where they have to step away from intuition where you -can- actually stop them, that these kinds of wierd stories happen.

Tom Most of our talent are either celebrating the Xmas Season Ramp-up or just plain celebrating. There's just a few of us "on staff" for these weekends. Maybe give them a few days -- but I'll begin -- was it at an Australian GP?

Dallas GP 1984 -- I know that hint was a "free pass" but thanks -- that's as far as I have ever extended computer expertise. 2007 is my Year of the Computer.

I thought it was quite a famous crash, glad it's trying you.

Famous race, stopped when Ayrton Senna was catching Prost: after the race he showed his famous self restraint by becoming furious and complaining as a 3 year old child. The funny part (for me) is that Stefan Bellof on his puny Tyrrell was catching Prost AND Senna, after an incredible overtake on Arnoux's Ferrari, but nobody cries today for his retirement... ;) So, my advice is: complain at every race and die when young.

I'm not sure about Martin being knocked off: perhaps he didn't know the directions for pits exit BEFORE the crash... :)

Well done Ciro.

Very thorough, in fact if the race was not stopped and Prost had finished 2nd he would have won the champ that year (by 1 point) with 6 points from that race instead of 4.5!

Martin suffered brake failure at Tabac (the corner after the chicane after the tunnel) and probably didn't know what direction the corner was anyway.
