Caterham will be weighing the cost of sponsors vs 10th place prize money.

CHT if you think that Kovaleinen is faster than Pic and Giedo then for 10th place it does not matter who will replaced as Heikki will take that 10th spot. therefore Pic is the one in trouble as he doesn't bring in sponsorship money (except for Renault) like Giedo does with McG

I think there could be a driver poach mid season with PIC going to Sauber to replace GUT who so far has not performed as expected. And if he does go, id expect KOV to step into that seat without a quibble. VDG has paid up with his 3 sponsors for the full season already, witch would be unpopular as a buiseness model to drop him.

As it is, i think GUT and BOT are the ones that could be dropped mid season first, however BOT may be more secure than GUT as it looks as if Telmex is pulling out of Sauber in 2014 to follow Perez to McLaren.

As for Caterham, i think the Leafeld factory move is now just about to start to pay for its self. It took Marussia 8 to 9 months to get into a groove when they moved into the old Ascari factory.

Caterham have just gone thru a massive upheaval, and this will now start to pay off in not just the months ahead, but next year and in the years to come. All they need to do is get a wind tunnel built and a wellness suite and they will have the same facilities and same sort of footprint as say Lotus. Witch will only be good for their charge up the grid.

Telmex is too strong in Sauber they won't let him go if they get rid of Gutierrez it's bye bye Telmex remember the non Telmex sponsors give different services to Sauber for promotion but the one puttin in all the big dollars for resources is Claro and Telmex.

So no Gutierrez for this team this season and if Gutierrez doesn't perform then maybe but then GE and CNN and all those sponsors won't play well with Telmex so I don't see Gutierrez ever going to this team. Maybe leaving F1 if not to Marrusia. But not this team.

the application you mentioned above are all highly competitive and matured industry dominated by many well funded establishment. For caterham, I just dont see how they could find the resources to compete with the big boys.

Who says they have to sell to anyone? Why can they not just pull in sponsorship by being good at competing in sports that involve vehicles made out of composites that utilise aerodynamics to do their thing.

* Caterham is a newly bought over company by Tony Fernandez and he has a plan to put Caterham on the map in different area's. The Caterham Car business is expecting to grow, especially now with the combination of Renault Alpine and the new and improved Caterham Seven 485.

* QPR is indeed relegated but Tony is not giving up on the team like many other business man would do. He's staying at the club and fighting to be back in the premiership.
* Caterham is working its way into the Aero business which Tony has positioned himself great with the partnership of Airbus/AEDS.
* The Sailing business is indeed a bit risky, however this is another group which has close connections to the F1 world. It attracts a whole different group of people which most of them are high class. This is an opportunity for Caterham instead of costing too much.

Back to Caterham F1 team, Tony himself has mentioned before that Caterham F1 team would only cost money and would need to be sponsored by the other Caterham businesses to become a long term sustainable F1 team.

What sort of Benefit is there for Renault to collaborate in that roadcar project? I cannot see Caterham having the strength in depth to develop a series car for an OEM ..that´s a completely different world and i see them outsourcing that bit anyways as is usual in the business.
So what makes this attractive ? IsCaterham a brand like Lotus,Ferrari Lambo,to be associated with making it all worthwhile?
