Via a @scarbsf1 RT I have found this wonderful article on gocar.gr (@f1enigma site):

it is written by Marco de Luca, former Ferrari F1 chief aerodynamicist, and goes deep in explaining the issues about wind tunnel model tyres, a subject we had discussed briefly also on this forum.

The article opens with a fantastic cfd image of a simplified f1 car, which has by itself a lot of features worth discussing (y250 an fw endplate vortices to begin with).

While I liked his style, this article doesn't tell much in details, and I've already stated in the comments.

The most interesting example would be the matching of CFD numbers and the ones derived from the wind tunnel tests. Example of wind tunnel sheet numbers could be found here.

Then, we have the question of whether the CFD model is 100% scale, whereas the wind tunnel one is 60% - a question that none of the teams is willing to answer, at that point. What type of simulation models are usually used, for example k-epsilon, etc. Still, this type of insight from the "black magic" world of F1 development is appreciated.
