What car is that? Looks to me an early 2000's car, judging on the fact it does not have its bodywork littered with earo appendages.

Edit: nvm, must be a later car with the aero bits removed. I'm guessing R28.

Via scarbs on twitter, I found this interesting job ad on racestaff.com

http://www.racestaff.com/job/402

Lotus are looking for an "aero fea engineer" - from the job description it seems that they are looking for a specialist in fluid structure interaction. "creative role, significant amount of freedom" are not usual words in this type of ads.

What's unique in this ads? Fluid - structure interaction is an everyday job of aerospace engineers for a decades, be it airframes or engines (I was dealing with this kind of stuff some 15 years ago). In F1 aerodynamics is of paramount importance - I am not surprised F1 team is looking for somebody who's job would be to optimize structure being subjected mainly to aero loading.

"Creativity" and "freedom" could be just a marketing keywords to make the ads looking better. Scrum is getting more and more popular, and especially in Motorsport you need people being able to work very independently.

That would be great catch, but i am not sure James Key would go in Enstone. Two reasons, he probably is under contract with Toro Rosso who's owner is Mateshitz, who posses Red Bull. I think Mateshitz secured his future designer in Red Bull after Newey retires. Also i am sure Key thinks same way, Toro Rosso is just passing station for him as it was for Newey Toro Rosso after leaving Mclaren. Also i am sure in Toro Rosso he can do whatever the hell he want's too, unlimited freedom of designing car and i am sure much more thicker salary then in Sauber.

I dont think Lotus have money to bring James Key in team, if they do, Allison wouldn't gone in first place.

the significance is fea and cfd engineer methinks as structural grids and cfd grids are not the same -it´s hinting at a cfd and stress coupled simulation -which is exactly what CD-Adapco is offering .It´s a tall task for an entire car but yet another step towards predictions with anyy significance considering the gains you are likely to target.

Where he wasn't? From FI to Sauber to TR, now he's rumored to go to RBR? That quite a career path...

I also have high regard of him, but his record at TR is rather disappointing.

Toro Rosso is pretty good team this year, they have solid midfield car. Also Key made something what in Marinello didnt even thinked it would worked with Ferrari engine, a (floating) tunnel ramp exaust. Everyone in Toro Rosso maked progress from his arrival, including a this year car. You can find somewhere artical how this year car for first time have good window setup, as many options to make car better/driveable.

He dont creating miracles, but it's stands for his reputation. He had results with Force India best year in F1, similar with Sauber with podiums and now is in Toro Rosso. I think he just waiting opening in one big teams and he marked probably Red Bull as The One.
