Summer test at the Nordschleife
a)Bernie has to cut fee if they'll race at the Nurburgring one day
b)drivers are ready to take the challenge?
c)too dangerous with a F1?
d)don't care if someone has a puncture, drivers have run for years here; yokohama/falken or hankook already make good tyres, pirelli surely can
e)TV coverage? I can't believe that people at home will be like 'I can't see an overtake..the lap is too long..'

I don't see the point of Autosport why there will be less pit-stop if the operating window of the new Pirelli rear tires will be lower around 5-10 degree but if it is true then Mercedes' 2013 season will be officially over...

They already cooking their tires so what will be the story with lower operating windows?

They are saying that tires will run 5-10 degrees cooler - the words were operating temp and not operating window.

They have a stronger car to quality but they still have the same problems with the rear tyres, so I dont see such a massive improvement.
there is, 1000 km more then any other teams with direct contact under Pirelli, as driving both Mercedes drivers not Pirelli drivers. but well you can lie to yourself and others as writing that post
We will see what happens with the test, theoretically the rest of the teams should have the right to do the same test, so say bye bye to the imaginary advantage of Mercedes.

I was talking about what we have seen this season so far, not about the future after this test, and what we have seen a team that struggles with the rear tyres as it has happened the last 3 years, no more, no less.

But if the tyres work with lower temperatures and your usually overheat the tyres, logic says that you will suffer even more. Perhaps I am wrong so I will wait for your explanation.

I think what he means is that if you put the same amount of work into the tires as before they will will run 5-10 degrees cooler than before.

Exactly - the tires will run 5-10 cooler for the same amount of work...the operating window isn't mentioned anywhere, the operational temp is not the same as operating window...one is the temp tire avgs for a certain amount of work and the other is the range below and above which tire characteristics suffer.

Heh, it's interesting that they still care enough about precision, even on a car that'll never seriously race again, that they have wheel weights on it.

If someone said to me that you can have three wishes, my first would have been to get into racing, my second to be in Formula 1, my third to drive for Ferrari.

I guess if something like the F-duct or William's slim gearbox takes a couple of years to develop, then all the top teams probably have people working on systems destined for the 2015 car.

i doubt there will be much development, mostly research in new tech. I doubt it will be much aero work, but like you say - things like gearbox designed etc.
