So Raikkonen in then? It will be interesting to see how Vettel can deal with him. They are almost opposite characters.

So the news I read back in April is correct. Webber rubbished it then but he can't lie anymore.
All the best Mark! Don't start flipping all over the track again.

Can Kubica be in the running for Webber's seat?

Well, might be possible. Kubica said lately that he would already be able to drive at 80 % of F1 tracks with his current arm state. He also added that he can constantly see the progress and regarding F1, that he is not interested in just testing anymore, but looking for some real challenge. Having in mind, that he has always been cautious with what he says, there might be a real chance that he will be ready for next season.
Still, since he said directly that he was interested in cooperation with Mercedes because their car has more room in the cockpit, the RBR option isn't very likely IMO.

Mark Webber to leave Formula 1 for Porsche Le Mans programme

"I'm very pleased to have secured Mark Webber for our LMP1 project as one of the best and most successful Formula 1 pilots of our time," said Hatz.

There is little to no chance that Kubica will ever be in an F1 car again, full stop. He has admitted that whereas he would like to be in one, that he has no chance, given his lack of wrist/hand/elbow movement. And why on earth would RBR even consider a driver who has not fully fit and lacking driving time? They want to win.

If Kubica ever drives for Red Bull Racing, he'll have to prove himself first in a different F1 car for atleast a full season. RBR isn't going to take any risks and would actually never put an unactive F1 driver in its car.

I'd also want to throw in a second, serious option if Kimi isn't going to be the one: Paul Di Resta.

yeah, he would be a good matching Webber replacement.

If they want a top driver accompanying vettel it will be hulkenburg or raikonnen, if they want a young buck not likely to challenge vettel it will be Ricardo

Those are the only people I see going to a red bull

Due to time constraints I have not read all the previous posts so apologies upfront if I repeat a view.

I think Kimi would be great balance to Vettel as he does not need the attention that many drivers do, and so would slot in quicker to the team where someone else would battle to settle in a team where everyone is making a fuss over Vettel and not them.

However I would love to see Nico Rosberg change teams and then we can really get an idea as to how he has progressed as a F1 driver. His performance compared to his current and last team mates is not shabby at all and neither of them where lightweights! I must be alone in this as I do not see Nico's name coming up at all in discussions (unless I missed it). There must be some good reasons for this that I am just not seeing?

Neither of them is a top driver these days, that's why RB are or should be considering them, reliable enough yes but not top. If they wanted a top driver they would have hired Hamilton. If they decide against Toro Rosso drivers and both are available they'll go for the weaker one. By definition.

Pity about Webber but it was about time, he was close in 2010. Hopefully he'll have a chance to go with a bang, although him saying about "remaining tightly inside RB family" means not the kind I was hoping for.

That sounds like a business already done.

We'll never know if Webber decided to leave or was pushed out, if he decided before or after the multi21.

You are trying to read to much into the words, today, of a Webber that last April 24th said:
“I’ve never made a plan for future seasons in April before, so I’m probably not going to start now. I’m looking forward to Barcelona, Monaco, the races coming ahead, and then we’ll make some plans,” he told Red Bull owned Servus TV.

“I think towards the [European] summer, we’ll make a plan, like I always do.”
...and who now says that he made the decision several months ago.

In a different formula (F3), and few years ago, Di Resta did beat Vettel to a championship.....
...not saying he'd repeat that now, but it would be good to see what he's got in a quick car.
