Mercedes AMG F1 W04

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

Is it just me, or is the rear wing end plate a new design with a more curved/countered edge trying to deflect air in the horizontal without the slots that Ferrari and RBR have but trying to do the same thing perhaps.

"...and there, very much in flames, is Jacques Laffite's Ligier. That's obviously a turbo blaze, and of course, Laffite will be able to see that conflagration in his mirrors... he is coolly parking the car somewhere safe." Murray Walker, San Marino 1985

As Scarbs was suggesting, they'll likely try the drag reduction device (the inverted-U replacing the monkey seat)

I am not sure that is the Merc so I got out the picture.

I think it's the lotus, the rear wing is different from the W04

I'd say its the lotus, the big clue is the drive shaft, mercedes have integrated theirs into the rear suspension like red bull, mclaren et al, unlike lotus. Its a concept they seem to have abandoned for now.

Yes, it was the Lotus. Sorry for mixing up that picture with the Mercedes ones.

Do you see the curve on the rear edge of the end plates?
