@marcush

Glad to see the team has restored some of your faith; it has been missed.

don´t get me wrong -i feel it´s almost obscene how they throw truckloads of recources into the project but one has to admit Toyota etc did the same with less success .
This does not make them more sympathy inspiring but let´s face it RedBulls rise was as much a function of Neweys genius as it was a function of Didis deep pockets...so what...

or was it simply a string of lucky circumstances that helped -as it did last year ? they did not look very convincing todays...
and not very self reflected as well -wolff and lauda always talking about rosbergs too ambitious strategy in Q2 as a reason for him not featuring in the race..Hamilton was fighting with blunt weapons from the word go today and it only went backwards ...

Didn't expect that. Shocking. After Silverstone and their development pace I thought they had solved their tyre wear problems. Hungary will be even more difficult with higher temperatures.

Indeed, a frustrating race to watch. Fortunately, their rebound in the second half maintained their second position within the constructor's championship, and at least we'll no longer have to hear from those still yammering on about the supposedly *huge* advantage they were given by tire-gate. The team isn't nearly as troubled as they were at Bahrain and Barcelona, so there have been improvements and we can only hope this trend continues.

And just to really keep us on our toes, we'll see entirely new tires in three weeks at Hungary.

After such a nice result in silverstone , I wondered why they brought a new nose and used the old engine cover but I guess the tires have a different profile??

Some may complain, but personally I'm glad they're ballsy enough to at least ask:

I admit it's obnoxious that the importance of the YDT has been cranked up quite a bit since the ruling was laid down.

I was actually wondering about this yesterday as the race was unfolding. If it is indeed becoming increasingly unlikely that the Pirelli test helped them in a significant way and that they are still on the backfoot in hotter temperatures, not allowed to join the revised YDT will surely have a much bigger impact on how well they will perform in the subsequent races. This could be bad news indeed, especially since the tyres carry such a huge importance...

What a mess.... #-o

They had a quick injection there for a while, now it's tapering off, three races from now they won't make Q3.

I think it's just a matter of the tires right for the race. Ferrari and Renault had problems in the previous two races but did well at the 'Ring.

 they were comfortably making not only Q3, but the 1st and 2nd row before the tyre test. if you want to pick on something so badly, pick on their race pace improvement, not qualifying. give credit where it is due.

Yep they are dropping off despite taking pole in every single dry Q3 session this season, the next race will give us new tyres and who knows what that will mean for race pace, the last race is meaningless because those tyres were never used before and will never be used again.

Probably but I meant they were used in a one-off race weekend.

let´s face it,MGP had good qualy speed also in 2012 at least in the early races and could have won more than one race with the speed they had.
Everything they can add in terms of performance be it qualy or race must be called an improvement -maybe nothing to jump and get excited as it was demanded already in year 1 of MGP but they failed to deliver a competitive package by a long shot with a lot of effort they have now reached the goal of 2010 or 2011 but still are struggling with the same issues they were plagued with as always. Not only understanding the tyres but build a car that uses the tyres or let the drivers use the rubber in a ways allowing them to win not just when it´s a tad cold..
