Williams FW35 Renault

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

We are talking front wing, you can see that it's smaller than the current max width like the 2014 rules dictate, the front tyres should offer a nice reference.
The rear is Montreal no doubt.

And it's not the FW31 FW.

I've made some calculations measuring the distance between wing tips and it looks like an optical effect. Wing width is 180cm, 2013 size.

The rear wing is suppoused to 75 cm, which by your pixel count would make the FW bigger than the maximum allowance.

Yep, 75cm including endplates. The flaps may be up to 71cm width, maybe the arrows in the picture are not accurate enough ;). Anyway, it's a 2013 front wing in my opinion.

Perspective effect. The front wheels are, in that picture, further appart than the rear wheels, telling you that the lens has not nullified perspective effectS. The front wing, even closer to the camera, appears much bigger than it is, so measuring pixels is misleading.

You know the endplates are fin layer plate right, it has nowhere near 4 cm of width.
And btw you did measure from endplate to endplate, how did you assume that would be 71 cm i don't know...

You have every right to your opinion just don't spout incorrect "facts".

I just wanted to make some calculations to help checking the size of the wing, but as hollus said, perspective is making them useless.
I'm sorry if it looked like I wanted to spout out incorrect facts, that was absolutely not the point of my post.
Btw, since technical regulations state that rear wing flaps can't go further than 355mm each side of the car center line, that's what I tried to measure (without endplates). I know that wing measures are not the point of the thread, so I'll check it back and try to be clearer next time.

Anyway, thank you for helping me understanding the mistakes in my calculations.

I think so, yes.
The brake ducts are still quite big which confuses me however, in Monaco Pastor had last year tiny ducts without the blown nuts.

Did they abandon them because of pit stops? Or because they don't bring the expected gain?

Apparently a large part of the decision was based on their poor pitstops

Hmmm, let's see if pit stop times improve...
