Different strategy just means a different way to do the race.
Just because you start on mediums doesn´t mean you will automatically jump people.
If you make one less stop then you have actually gained something. But running your tires in different order is just a different strategy that might or might not work.

Yeah it an Adam Savage classic, I find it very good for ending an argument based on opinions and not hard facts (eg this isn't a topic discussing hard science) as its basically a fun way to say we agree to disagree.

I agree with JEV to a extent.

You could argue that Riccardo shows more potential, as he clearly the quicker of the two if you look at the qualifying stats. But Race Craft JEV does have a distinct advantage. If someone said JEV was the better driver as of 2013, then I would not argue greatly against it.

But Riccardo due to his immense speed could have more pontential in the long run, he needs a lot more seasoning though.

I kind of half do/half don't agree there with vergne. Yes, jev outscored ricciardo despite having less reliable equipment, BUT ricciardo outqualifies jev by 7 to 3. Ricciardo has much more ultimate pace and they way I look at it, more potentional then jev. It just has to come out of it.

Btw, I'm not sure if anyone here ever saw any of Dan's FR races but IMO he was very much like Seb a few years back, did his winning almost exclusively from pole position.

Vergne understandably is trying to sell himself but he should know that the closer to the top and the less aggressive tyre approach the more important qualifying position will be.

Btw, I'm not sure if anyone here ever saw any of Dan's FR races but IMO he was very much like Seb a few years back, did his winning almost exclusively from pole position.

I would be interested to see if Riccardo could challenge Vettel in qualifying. I do think Vettel would out-quali Kimi, but Riccardo could be a bit of a wild card against Vettel if some of his laps this year are anything to go by.

I have no expectation that Riccardo can challenge and beat Vettel next year if they are teammates, and as of now I would slightly favor Vettel to beat Kimi (I think the Kimi from 2005-2007 would beat Vettel though) Both produce enough question marks where I would welcome them as Vettel's teammate.

Alonso vs Vettel would be heaven though for us fans.

I agree, a Seb + Dan partnership would produce a lot of poles between them but I'd expect Seb to beat Dan in most of the races in the first 2/3rds of the season.

I think the point is that qualifying shows what natural talent a driver has, as it represents just how fast a driver can go. Race pace can be worked on, and for whatever reason Riccardo still needs work on his.

JEV maybe the better driver now, but there is more upside to Riccardo due to him having more natural talent. Grosjean I would not say is that fast, Kimi has shown him up in qualifying for the most part this year, and whilst I think Kimi is a more seasoned driver than he was in say 2005, I think Kimi has lost a bit of raw pace as he has reached his 30's.
