Yea Grosjean is a real testament to that.....oh wait. ;)
There's an exception to every rule, besides Grosjean just isnt that fast!

Just have a look at Dan's 2010 year in Formula Renault - He holds the series record of 8 pole positions in a season (won 4 races), the year before he got 6 poles in Formula 3 (won 7 races) ... He's seriously fast!

Verne did pretty good in F3 as well, 12 wins in the first 24 races. Wrapped it up with 6 races to go.
As far as Grosjean´s speed, well he´s not exactly enjoyed equal machinery all of the season so that might be a factor.
Then Kimi has improved from last year as well, probably don´t have the power steering issue anymore as well.

It will be interesting to see how the person does whoever it is.

Ray Charles could see that Grosjean is immensely fast.
Not only in qualifying but in the race; when he gets the car to his liking.
I like Kimi, but he hasn't shown me this year that he is faster than Romane. He's steadier and more experience, and racier, but i doubt if both have the car to how the like 100% that he has raw pace over Romane.
For Sure!!

Well if you give that slow driver a redbull, now you have less work to do.
You don't have to go into head and teach him anything.
You just tell him to drive the car.

I feel JEV could be the better choice. He has more points as he so rightly put it. And he's also coorect if you look on the points per race factor. I see riciardo as faster, but JEV to me is the better racer.
If you want a rear gunner, you need the guy who is there in the race to the end most of the time, the guy who's going to collect the points.
That's the problem with ferrari right now, they have Massa who is very quick on his day, but he's never there in the races. Always spinning out or involved in some race incident.

It's going to be a tough decision for Redbull for sure.

Interestingly Ricciardo finished all but one race above his grid position last year, but has struggled with race pace this year and is yet to finish a race higher than his starting position.

Had no idea about that.

Something to do with adapting to this years tyres maybe?

That would be my guess, I mean what F'wit decides to replace perfectly good carbon belting with steel belting in tires for F1 cars!!

No wonder so many went bang at Silverstone!

Sure he's fast, there's less weight in between his ears lowering his center of gravity.

It does have other consequences tho!

To be fair he has been fast the past two weekends, but before that he had been woeful this year. I think there is outside chance Riccardo or JEV could take his seat at Lotus if Kimi takes the Red Bull seat. JEV has already being linked to Lotus.

Johnny Herbert is convinced Romain may win his 1st GP in the next few races for what its worth.

Interesting myth about Ricciardo is how 'fast' he is. Reality being that Vergne is faster than him in the overwhelming majority of practice sessions and in races. Vergne's problem has always been having 1 lap in qualifying, with Tost saying he was overworking the tyres. Given a 3/4 lap run he's been consistently faster.

With regards Vergne airing his views, its one of the worst kept secrets in the paddock that he's been talking to Lotus for a while (proclaimed a 'done deal' on Sky at the British GP, but 2 strong Grosjean races since) so saying something people see as controversial even if true isn't the issue it could be.

I would not be so absolute into saying his speed is a "myth" some of his qualifying performances this year have been outstanding, like the one that got a veteran like Button to say "wow" in disbelief.

You could argue that there is a myth that he is consistently fast.

I thought I heard around May-time that JEV was actually struggling in qualifying because he was being too conservative in tyre setup and underworking the tyres in Qualifying, interesting that Tost has since suggested it is overworking the tyres.

I think overdriving in qualifying may be what Tost means. Not that I've taken any particular attention to the way Vergne drives in quali.

According to Ilta Sanomat, Kimi has already made a decision to go to Ferrari - http://www.iltasanomat.fi/formula1/art- ... 11747.html
