Hi Guys,
First, as you can see I´m a newly registered user. Actually, I have been passively on this site for some years..but now I have a question. Like you guys Im fascinated about race cars..modern F1 car not so much but the 70,80, 90 etc. Anyway, to cut a long story short, I might be interested in a 2010 GP2 car - for personal use. Now, I know that the engines are very reliable, and can last about 4000KM...which would be with my available time for such a beast ..lightyears Im interested in a 2010 because the have the old shape, nice nose..are a bit simpler then the current ones and could be maintained with "reasonable cost" (of course more expensive than a street car - but still not ridicoulous F1 level of today). Speaking of cost, I have heard differnt opnions on the gearboxes..I talked to two different teams - but two different answers regarding maintenance. I would maybe also consider a Renault Word Series..as they have starter etc..(at least the one from a friend has this, its a 2010 or 2008 model, not sure anymore).
I know this car wont be easy..but Im willing to take the plunge. I would just appreciate any more info on such a car that would make my life "terrible" ..or happy .
Im especially interested in maintenance issues. Would I need 10 mechanics for this? No, I hope not. I know that RWS cars can used and maintained with relativley little means...
Thanks guys and by the way this is the best forum in the world for people who want to know more about racing cars. Im sick of Bernie´s show..bring us real racing (like GP2)
