Well this was not the case. Horner confirmed that none of the Q3 laps were done with KERS.beelsebob wrote:The Sky commentators stated that red bull had asserted that SV's KERS was indeed working for his second run.
Not easy to overtake at Suzuka especially given the top speed advantage that Webber has, and Webber may be given the preference on strategy (in terms of who gets the undercut) because he is ahead on track. Vettel's best chance is the start.CHT wrote:Vettel has always been better than webber when comes to managing tires, so he shouldnt have problem passing Webber tomorrow unless he has got issue with KERS.

Agreed. And though no one has outdragged the poleman into T1 since 2000, I'm backing Vettel to do just that tomorrow.Gerhard Berger wrote:Not easy to overtake at Suzuka especially given the top speed advantage that Webber has, and Webber may be given the preference on strategy (in terms of who gets the undercut) because he is ahead on track. Webber had no KERS either it seemed. When he talked to Hamilton near the scales it looked like he said he "could not use" KERS.dxpetrov wrote:Well this was not the case. So until the summer break or (until the tyre switch) RBR philosophy was to be the lowest in speed trap, hence a high downforce setup in order to have less tyre degradation but manageable tyre ware.
Now since the tyre switch also their philosophy changed and they used since Spa a ultra low RW and all of a sudden they toped all the speed traps each race, once their tyre degradation wasn’t anymore a problem and also once they found a way to increase their diffuser volume hence downforce.
Now the same story could be applied to Merc although in reverse RBR mode: fastest in the first part of the season and now one of the slowest in the speed traps …
The reason? To minimize the rear tyre degradation here and in Korea their setup was also with a high downforce in mind, this time just to preserve the right front tyre :
