Nasr was also champion of 2011 British F-3, while Magnussen, his team mate, was the runner-up. Nasr had 7 wins.

In GP2 didnt win but was very consistent. I think he is a good driver, but not exactly a really fast one. His consistence is his best quality.

Remember he has prior, when they called on him to substitute for Massa. He knew that jumping in a new car and having to get to grips from the off was unlikely, and likely reputation-damaging, especially one that didn't handle too well like the 09 Ferrari.
I have not heard why he chose to turn it down but I will be surprised if he turn it down because lack of preparation.
You need to be a go-getter this sport, be ready to be thrown into the lions, sink-or-swim...
All those young-guns coming first time into F1 for a young driver session. They get compared with Vettel but still they went for it. I know Hulkenburg already gotten reputation and have more to loose, but still if that is the reason, he is going nowhere.

I am guessing the reason could be the commitment for Sauber; he must have a binding contract so that he can't just goto Lotus even if he really wanted to.

Now Whitmarsh says they have in fact signed Button, but still no official word on Magnussen...
“First of all, we would like to thank Checo for his kind and gracious statement, and for being a fine team member during the 2013 Formula 1 season. There are still two grands prix yet to run this year, and our collective focus is on scoring as many points as we can in those two remaining races.

“Checo has made many friends during his time at McLaren – and, together, as a team, we intend to do our utmost to help him finish his year with us with two good results, especially here in Austin, where he has so many fans. We wish him well for the future, and are sure that he will have many successes ahead of him.

“As regards our driver line-up for next year, no 2014 deal has yet been signed with any driver except Jenson, and we therefore have nothing further to announce at this time. As and when that situation progresses, we will make a further announcement accordingly.”

maybe its weird but i think choco goes to lotus and hulkenberg to mclaren. i think this because hulkenberg didn't want to do the last races for lotus. maybe the reason for this is that he will drive for mclaren. i know mclaren want magnussen but its just a guess from me. i think it will be nice to see hulkenberg there.

Nico Hulkenberg’s manager Werner Heinz says that the German has turned down the chance to drive for Lotus in the last two races.
Hulkenberg had got as far as visiting Enstone.
“We had an offer from Lotus are available and have discussed about it,” Heinz told Bild. “But we decided that Nico will drive the last two races with Sauber.”
Sauber’s late salary payments would presumably have allowed Hulkenberg to break free of his contractual obligations, although it might still have been complicated legally. Nico may also believe that he might be better off staying with what he knows for the last two races rather than jumping into a new car at short notice. It also begs the question of whether or not the deal led into a guaranteed seat for 2014.

Given that Lotus might not be able to afford Hulk due to Budget. Taking Perez over Maldonado is better bet. But who knows maybe Perez leaves the sport.

Possibly Hulkenberg has already decided on his destination for 2014 -and it´s not going to be lotus?

To me this is the scenario making sense .If lotus had offered him a two race only deal -he would have been mad not to grab the opportunityor he feared Lotus wanted to sign him simply to get the quantum deal sealed .

I´m surprised and disappointed but now it seems clear Hulk options are Sauber ,Mclaren and FI .

The pressure is up for him to beat both lotus in the two remaining races .

Ferrari paid Hulkenberg's salary to prevent him racing with Lotus
by AC

Hulkenberg got a call from his bank...
This is the revelation, or perhaps, the allegation made by Italy's BlogF1 about the reason why Nico Hulkenberg will not race for Lotus in Austin and Interlagos.

The article goes on to describe how, up to very recently, Hulkenberg had not been paid by Sauber invalidating his contract with the Swiss team, a situation which allowed him to not only talk with Lotus but got to Enstone for a session in that team's simulator.

Right in the middle of that simulator session, BlogF1 continues, his bank account balance was replenished. Where did Sauber find the money? Ferrari supposedly came to an arrangement with Monisha Kaltenborn's team.

Why would Maranello do that? Of all drivers available to fill Kimi's vacant seat at Lotus, Hulkenberg is without a doubt the strongest and Ferrari is in a fight with Mercedes and Lotus for the second spot in the constructor championship and the additional revenues it would bring.

True, not true, certainly a strategic move if it was. There is much strategy in F1.

If true that´s quite hilarious ;)

Someone said the silliest season ever and i have to agree, Schumi turned down Lotus seat.
http://www.supersport.com/motorsport/ar ... Id=2198644
Michael Schumacher, the retired seven-time Formula One champion, turned down an offer from Lotus to drive the final two races of the season as a replacement for Kimi Raikkonen.

A report in Bild newspaper was confirmed to The Associated Press by Schumacher's manager Sabine Kehm, who says the 44-year-old Schumacher "would have been fit enough, but he's gotten used to his new life."

Schumacher retired for the second time at the end of the last season, having failed to win a race for Mercedes in a three-year comeback.

Raikkonen will miss the last two races in the United States and Brazil after back surgery. He will be driving next season for Ferrari, one of Schumacher's former teams for which he won five consecutive championships.

So far, Kimi's garage remained a no-namer.
