Ferrari 2014 Car Pre-launch Speculation

Post

This is the speculation thread about the 2014 car. Rumors, articles, ideas and fantasies about the car can be posted here. Once the car gets officially launched, this thread will be closed and discussion continues in the official thread.

Engine speculation has its own thread; unless it directly involves the 2014 ferrari contender, please keep any speculation here: http://www.f1technical.net/forum/viewto ... ead#unread

Livery wise my hopes are red/black :) Dont know why but I think many of the old liverys were cool. But realisticly I cant see why they would switch from the Red/White.

Other rumors are that they will drop the front pull rod and go back to push rod.

Yea Red/Black would be so sweet, bring back the sinister looking Ferrari livery.

Will be interesting to see just what Rory Byrne will produce actually.

Is Rory back on the team?? Or just as a consultant?

In February 2013, at the launch of F138 - in interview to the German Auto Motor und Sport Rory Byrne said that he is "working full steam" on Ferrari’s 2014 F1 car, in a role which will see Byrne return to the role as chief designer.

Chief Designer apparently. Very exciting stuff.

This is about the only car I can't put a name on; all the other teams have a system for that in place that allows to accurately predict the name. Really bugs me out; I'll be trying to contact Ferrari and prying the official name out.

theWPTformula made an analysis of the sidepod panel introduced in Abu Dhabi on the 2013 ferrari which could be highly relevant to next year:
Image
On the subject of VGs, I did discuss the possibility of maintaining them for next year’s cars with a few members of the F1 “technical community” on Twitter. The aim of placing VGs and blades on top of the sidepod area is to push the exhaust plume down into floor area around the rear tyre. With the exhaust exiting far away from their current location next year, is there still a need for VGs here?

If Ferrari, or any team, were to produce an extremely contoured sidepod there would be a need to place VGs in this area to attempt keep airflow attached along the entire length of the ‘pod. There may well be some radically shaped bodywork in this region next year as the engines are bigger and provide more cooling. This will result in various ways of stacking the intercoolers and radiators that are needed to cool the V6 turbo power units for next year.
http://thewptformula.wordpress.com/2013 ... ighlights/

The sidepod panel could hint at a high sidepod which slopes massively down to the coke bottle.

F141 is my guess ;)
But it´s rarely they stick to the same line of thought for the cars.

F60 - 2009 was the 60th year in Formula One for Ferrari.

F10 - 2010 car i presume.

F150 - 150 years Italy as we know it today

F138 - 2013 and 8th year of V8 engines.

Edit: If someone could investigate it some i think you can figure out the name (or a selection of names) before they announce it.

Ferrari names of the last 20 years:

1993 F93A
1994 412 T1
1995 412 T2
1996 F310
1997 F310B
1998 F300
1999 F399
2000 F1-2000
2001 F2001
2002 F2002
2003 F2003-GA
2004 F2004
2005 F2005
2006 248 F1
2007 F2007
2008 F2008
2009 F60
2010 F10
2011 150° Italia
2012 F2012
2013 F138

Based on that, my best guess for the 2014 name is F166 (1.6 litre V6), alternatively F2014.

Either F2014, F146T or F166T seems a logical choice (F146T a bit less, as they used the logic behind it to mark the end lf the engine, not the beginning), unless a special number concerning either Italy or Ferrari comes up in 2014. Celebrating a certain number of years has to be atleast a multiplier of 10, as I don't see them celibrating 65 years in F1.

Still awaiting reply from Ferrari. Putted all my charmes into one e-mail; let's see if it gets us anywhere

The more I think about it, the more F166T seems the better guess. Each time they introduced a new engine they followed the same logic behind it.
