A shameless image thread for the enginephiles

All that has to do with the power train, gearbox, clutch, fuels and lubricants, etc. Generally the mechanical side of Formula One.

Gomers cousin goober is a chromed expert, thats why he cant look at the camera for more than 2 seconds, he sniffed too much of the fumes.

A friend of mine had a single turbo MKIV Supra.

I recall years ago, going for a ride and as we were merging onto the highway, I commented that I wasn't terribly impressed. About 3/4 of a second after those words left my mouth the turbo kicked in. Never felt a car pull that hard from 70MPH to 150MPH...almost made me question whether or not there was any aerodynamic drag on the car.

Just to prove that torque without rpm is nothing, right?

Crikey is that real? How have you managed to get so much torque out of a such a small engine? If that can really be achieved then won't we be seeing the F1 teams adopt this sort of system?

Look at the flywheel rpm... It's gearing. Sure, F1 cars could do that and flip themselves over, in slow motion.

You're kiddig right, TorqueGenius?

This is a very good xample of the perennial misconception of "torque", the engine-torque means nothing, when it's the wheel-torque that matters. If the engine has the power, you can gear it to any wheel-torque you like and that's all there's to it.

machine's image has a 1:100 two-step planetary gear, which means the engine probably produces little more than 9-10 lbft.
