Tudor USCC tracks?

Post

I'm looking for some input here. I have enjoyed attending the Daytona Prototype races at Mid-Ohio for a few years now and have really enjoyed the experience. Unfortunately Mid-Ohio is not on the schedule for the Tudor USCC series in 2014. I live in Toledo, Ohio so my options to see one of these races are Detroit, Indianapolis, or if I am up for a long haul, Watkins Glen. Does anyone have an opinion about any of these venues?

My initial thoughts are these: I really enjoyed sitting under my sportbrella on a grassy knoll overlooking the esses. It was relaxing to have shade and being able to lay back and take a nap between races. This is not an option for Detroit as Belle Isle is billiard table flat. From my sportbrella I would see nothing but jersey barrier. Grandstands are the only real viewing option.
I saw the inaugural F1 race at Indy years ago and had a bad experience. I watched the race from the last turn (road course) grandstands, and frankly I don't know anything about the experience of viewing from the infield. Indy does have history and a museum which I have never visited. I have never been to Watkins Glen, but it certainly has history. Also, as a traditional road course it is likely to offer the laid back (literally and figuratively) viewing experience that I enjoy. The only downside is that it is quite a drive from Toledo.

If you're up for watkins glen, why not consider Mosport? similar driving distance from Toledo, though there will be a border crossing to get through and it is a bit of a hike.

I've been to Mosport multiple times, once for ALMS. Mosport doesn't really have any grandstands to speak of, everybody just camps out at various points around the track. Lots of great vantage points overlooking the track at turns 2, 5, 8 and the start finish straight. Plenty of hills with a great view of the track on which you can pitch whatever chairs/umbrellas you'd like. Plus, in the evenings, you can walk/jog/bike the rather scenic track after all the racing's done.
