I would think he'd chose his "vettel" number but run #1 as world champion.

Why would 27 be popular? Am I missing something?

Because Villeneuve was 27 while at Ferrari, I guess. 27 & 28 were Ferrari's numbers back when the teams kept them.

Would be the ones i´d consider if i was a driver.
I wonder if FIA will have this caveman thinking regarding number 13.

It says from 2 to 99, so that means positive for sure and I presume real as well.

But you disappoint me tim.

Try this for a car number.

I guess this means we'll get some news soon with drivers announcing their numbers.
Would Alonso go for 3, having run that number for such a long time now?

I only hope the new number will be somewhat visible again on the lower nose cones...

So does this mean the numbers will be larger ? so they stand out, give the fans a better easier way to pick out drivers. like NASCAR. I think its a good idea. Wonder if anyone goes for a yellow 46 :-)

O yeah, think Hamilton would pick 22 as has been said. This could actually be good if they get it right and let the drivers style the logo to be unique like in Moto GP. Still not sure if its right but its growing on me. Think Alonso should have 27, Kimi 11, like James hunt. I could be getting excited about this. Best rule they have made so far this week that's for sure. But that just shows how bad the rest have been

I hate this idea, but I'm intrigued by the prospect of teams contractually obligating drivers to use the numbers the teams want! If I was a team owner I would want my drivers to use the numbers of the team. For marketing continuity. McLaren and Ferrari for example have the power to control the contract negotiations that way. Only the most wanted drivers will have power to control the negotiations over the teams.

You can´t pick and choose numbers every year. You pick one and you keep it for the rest of your career.
And the teams won´t have any numbers. They belong to the individual drivers now.
