Will the teams also get double the money for the final race? Will the race be twice as long? Will they be allowed to use twice as many tires? And charge twice as much energy on KERS? Will tickets cost twice as much? So many questions! I'm so excited about this! In 2014 I am going to be watching twice as much F1!

Perez in favour of double points? What a tool. He has no concept of what F1 is, he didn't even want to be an F1 driver, he wanted to be a football player. He's in F1 for money, nothing else.

I wonder: doesn't the double points rule encourage spending at the end of a season?

It's always been a compromise, but there aren't any drastic rule changes happening in the following years; so until there's one, it's not a problem I guess ? Since you can carry what you do over to next year.

I'd say it encourages spending all season, you can't get just have a good car and get a good start of the season, you
have to keep developing and and copying all the others development or they might take the price when it really matters

Number crunching time ....

I have looked at the last 23 rounds of F1 (1991-2013) and simulated what impact awarding double points in the last race would have had on the outcome of the WDC, and whether or not the WDC would have been determined at a later round in the season. Considering that all seasons before 1991 used a points scoring system that consisted of only factoring in the best results (see F1 points scoring systems), I am only taking seasons from 1991 onwards into account during which all races counted towards the final result of the WDC.

In 23 seaons since 1991, awarding double points in the last race would have extended the season 9 times, and the WDC would have gone to a different driver 3 times. We can therefore assume this new rule will come with a 39% chance of keeping up the suspense for at least 1 additional race, as well as a 13% chance to change the outcome of the WDC.

I vote for a one race motor also allowed for the final race. I kinda miss teams decorating the front stretch with the insidey parts of the engine.

Let also allow multiple tire manufactures for the final race. I kinda miss proper tires

Lets not require switching compounds

also all cars are required to shoot fire out of the exhaust on over run.

Ti skid plates? Too much to ask

If they want to make it a spectacle make it worth our time.

On that basis alone, I now support this rule! =D>

Although making flames shoot out the exhaust would be wicked cool as well.

Or a spin trophy for those rainy days Massa is forced to race an F1 car on the limit.

Because it´s more frequent, like Silverstone 08 where he must have broken some kind of record.

C'mon, that day was about wrong car setup. Massa won Brazil'08 that year in a mixed conditions and got podium in Korea 2010 under heavy rain.
