Granitelli was part huckster, part showman, part engineer and part self aggrandizing buffoon. In other words, a perfect fit for the world of open wheel racing!
When IndyCar closed ranks to ban his forward thinking and innovative ideas, the idea of racing began to die and the world of racing as entertainment delivery system was born.
My opinion probably counts for little, but I think the racing world as it was during Granitelli's period of influence was preferable to what we have today. Pretty sure I haven't watched an Indy 500 since the 4wd turbine car was banned.
