Williams FW36 Mercedes

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

I have a feeling one of their liveries from the 80's / 90's will return...oh please let it be so! less than a week til we see it in its final form!
If someone said to me that you can have three wishes, my first would have been to get into racing, my second to be in Formula 1, my third to drive for Ferrari.

(y)
Lotus used a similar 'mini beam wing' last year, but it was much thinner...

And the transmission arm looks almost horizontal, not extremely angled like the previous Williams ones... The new gear box might be higher? the clutch is certainly higher due to the regs, but the gears and the rest could be placed low anyway.

The shape and the size of the suviving cell still puzlles me, it looks even thicker and bulkier than the Renault R31 monocoque. So the splitter looks very short and it seems its upper edge extends towards the front of the nose...

Thanks for your analysis, but it's clearly visible in the other pictures of the front of the car.

Brings new meaning to the affectionate name "Team Willy"!! They've even labelled the apendage with a W.

It would be very ironic if Williams came up with the best way to use Exhaust gases

Party!

But I have to admit, (at first sight) the monocoque doen't looks as rule-exploitive as the FINDIA....

But big thanks to Willams for letting this continue uninterruptedly! =D>

Air boxes area looks bulky, multi helmholtz chamber ram air intake into turbo than back into mega sophisticated intake plenum... feel free to correct my enthusiasm...
Finishing races is important, but racing is more important.

This is ridiculous... they have to change something otherwise the public will go mad and leave the F1 without spectators. Already it is started a mental war about this designs.

ps - Williams' new car completes first run:

The Cassis is actually higher that in zioture's Photoshop. The Splitter goes way forward so it seems like the Chassis is really low. But it is certainly a bit lower than the FI.
