Last race for closing team

Post

There are situations that are forgotten in the futur, but at the present seem very funny, specially with teams that are competing it their last GP due to lack of money.

For example in 2002 Arrows drivers had to ask other teams to lend them glove to compete in the French and British GP.

In 1995 the Simtek team competing in theit last GP (Monaco) had to tape some parts of the car toghether with duct tape.

What about Andrea Moda in 1992? First they arrived at one GP but didn't pay for their engines and another Judd team had to lend them an engine. And then at Barcelona the team started the engine and 20 meters later the engine stalled.....gossip i the paddock said that the team didn't have a engine in the car and the mechanics were making the engine sound from the garage.

And the same team at Silverstone? The put wet weather tires for qualifying on a dry track....and when Paul Mcarthy had a small of and came back to the pits they kept the wet weather tires and didn't even take the grass from his front wing!

If anyone has other funny stories just post them.

Not "Paul" McCarthy (close to be a Beatle), but Perry.
Lots of funny stories of this kind are at F1 Rejects, from the one of the Kauhsen team that, after turning the all-winning F2 Elf-Renaults into non-competitive machines felt ready to race F1(!), to the Life team and their W12 engine that rarely worked.

What a shame.....
over the years the numbers of teams on the grid has decresed. So many teams has disappeared from the grid. I would like to see more teams enter F1 and more top teams battling for race wins too.
Rising cost are the cost of all this and i would specificly demand a limit to personnel in each team and limited testing and development.

I agree, imagine what it would be like if Lamborghini entered with Volkswagen funding, and we had maybe Mitsubishi, Nissan, MG (!), Ascari, or even Pagani (i know they haven't got enough money though)

hehehe, well Mitsubishi :D
They had a joint venture with Daimler Chrysler (related to Mercedes) but then last week Daimler found out there was a huge investment needed in Mitsu, so they closed the deal. Mitsu is now making very big losses, don't know numbers excact anymore, but I guess you won't see them in F1 in the next couple of years :P

I know there have been discussions and articles about this, but I'd like to resurrect the idea of Porsche entering into F1. They make plenty of profit to be able to afford it.
