Mercedes AMG F1 W05

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

The front wing mounts (walrus like) look tiny to me. Any small nudge and the front wing will be off!

Thoughts?

@Turbo

The left looks very slightly longer than the right. I admit it could be the angle.....

If someone said to me that you can have three wishes, my first would have been to get into racing, my second to be in Formula 1, my third to drive for Ferrari.

What are these strange bulbs at the back, near "Petronas PRIMAX"?

The Daltons :lol:

That sound in the end :o Feels like it's from an 80's science fiction tv show. Awesome ! :) And the engine growls like a monster ! Not disappointed, none at all !!!

Could be just testing equipment, like sensors.

Thanks! That was my initial thought too, but doesn't it mess aero even a bit? And a strange place to have them too.

You can hear the turbine spinning up under ERS power. I guess at that point it's pretty much a supercharger?

Anyway, on the noise, I think Adam west would be proud.

Engine :) Like Ferrari last year. The top one fits the head of the engine. Bottom probably exhausts.

This car looks very boxy, not organic looking at all. Very simple/squareish car, not impressed.

"Slight" asymmetry would be pointless. The lotus nose isn't different lengths for performance reasons, its purely to meet the regulations, which means it's precisely 50mm offset (correct me if the length is wrong).
