seems like Merc has hit the ground running....
merc, unlikely all other teams, already completed 40 laps at silverstone
so today they can skip a whole installation phase that other teams must do
which begs the question why hasn't anyone else.

but we are seeing here surely its more beneficial to do it before this test. The only other car we have seen out is Toro Rosso and they done a run as well?

It wasn't 40 laps it was 40km which is something very different.

Lewis crashed his car....how can you crash in testing(if there were no car issues)...
Irvine:"If you don't have a good car you can't win it, unless you are Michael or Senna. Lots of guys won in Adrian Newey's cars, big deal. Adrian is the real genius out there, there is Senna, there is Michael and there is Newey. They were the three great talents."

i read he pulled to halt

11:44 His Mercedes crew don't have far to travel at least. They're into the course car and on their way to the W05, which appears to have stopped between Curva Expo and Curva Michelin.

11:42 ...but no sooner does he cross the finish line than he pulls to a halt in the first sector. Our third red of the day.

edit sorry your right

11:46 Scratch that - it seems Hamilton is in the Turn 1 barriers. Marshals are picking up bodywork on the main straight.

hmm bodywork on the straight so surely something broke?

I feel really sorry for LotusF1, by the looks of things they will still be in test-mode come race day in Melbourne. McLaren,Red Bull and Williams haven't even come out the garage. Ferrari only done 3 laps. Never imagined that the new power-unit would cause so many gremlins.
I think Lotus is the smartest team. Why bother to go to Jerez to sit out the whole day like McLaren o Williams are doing? To do that, I prefer to be on the base, working on the car.

Force India also did a shakedown and just managed one lap today
