Ferrari F14T

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

As an expert armchair aerodynamicist, I would say that is what they expected. If they wanted it to stay over the nose then it would be flat and not rounded. OK, I admit, that was more common sense than aero knowledge...

The flow patterns seem expected, even at this early stage of testing, as with no doubt, this solution is already test-driven at the wind tunnel.
Are the decals actually changing the air flow, or just the way the flow viz sticks to the nose?
That makes curvature o top of nose. That surface isnt flat like in Caterhams. Mercedes will had same effect...

They would have a small affect on the airflow, probably not enough to worry. Decals that are unlikely to change can be painted on which would make them completely flush. I believe Mercedes do this with their logo.

Looks a little bit artsy, but it's still something to take in consideration. I'll let you make any analysis about it.

Front wing looks quite simple compared to what they had at brazil last year, I mean a 6 element wing. Look at W05 and RB10, they have brought forward the refined versions of what they had at the end of last year. Does it imply that W05 and RB10 have not compromised on front wings as they probably have enough rear downforce and ferrari does not?

No, it means Ferrari aren't showing their hand yet... And what good have those front wings done for Mercedes and Red Bull, W05's broke off, and RB10 has only just moments ago hit the track today...

Reliability is the name of the game in Jerez, performance will maybe get chased in the last Bahrain test, judging by the number of cars on track today and the amount of laps they did...
And they call it a stall. A STALL!

Me to! :D We don't want another car in the wall. Anyway also could be scratches on surface.

In my opinion there's no point in rolling out an old FW if later they are going to change it for one newer, for me it has more sense if you roll out the FW of Brazil 2013 with the width allowed and then you develop the FW from that point.
Unless they want to cut costs, or they keep having issues in the wind tunnel yet and prefer using Flowviz paint.
Anyway they are the only team in doing so.
Another posibility is that they try to taking in us and put the 2013 Brazil FW later.

It seems an completely different car. You should be hired to paint the Ferrari.
