McLaren MP4-29 Mercedes

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

I think they need to know right away if this works or not in order to asses if they need to proceed with development of this concept or drop it.....

Or it can just be sensors ... :)

I completely understand that, but this gives the other teams the chance to have iterations out come the start of the season. I would have chanced my arm and left it as long as possible before the debut. Maybe that is why I am not a team boss lol

Maybe they want to test the waters now, knowing other teams will first try to challenge it before trying to copy it, that way they can find out if its worth investing more and more time developing in only to be banned from using it after the first race?

A device cannot conform to one rule but not conform to another, or can it? If this were a legal definition, it cannot, that's the way law works anyway, I forget the latin term which defines this.

The more I look at it, the more I love it........ I just hope it will be fast, as I've learned a hard lesion as a Mclaren fan over the years and that is the fact that the most beautiful car is not always the fastest

If the Renault mass dampers were movable aerodynamic devices, this suspension certainly can be ...

I think it will be banned no matter if it's against rules or not. As people have mentioned before, there seems to be a loophole in the regulations for the aero on the suspension, that loophole works both ways.

More legit things have been banned on a McLaren.
Finally, everyone knows that Red Bull is a joke and Max Verstappen is overrated.

Dont forget that many loophole's were allowed also, for example the double diffuser ......so lets wait and see.
