I'm not sure if it was yourself or another member who posted at length about this and included some flow images comparing different side pod shapes using a small CFD program. It sort of reminds me of the development of stealth technology, in which the F-117A was pioneering in the use of faceted surfaces. Later with better understanding and advancements in design the concept evolved from faceted surfaces to
'continuous curvature' on the B-2 and subsequent stealth programs.
