Me too. Dragonfly fits perfectly and it makes a lot of sense to have a specific name for a specific design.Pup wrote:Add another vote for the Dragonfly.turbof1 wrote:I was thinking about that too. Dragonfly suspension is fitting better.

It does look like a joint, doesn't it? I suspect that it's a strain gauge taped on, though.cherok1212 wrote:Are rear legs two pieces (green and blue in your illustration) one molded piece or two joined is in question. Seems to be a hinge or joint of some type @ angle change.
Clever without question thoPup wrote:It does look like a joint, doesn't it? It's hard to say whether the upper wishbone is made up of 2 parts, we need to see the end connecting to the upright. It could be a 3 armed wishbone.Pup wrote:Seems that here and elsewhere, there is some confusion about what is what on the suspension. I've color coded the photos below to try to make it clearer.
Red = Upper Wishbone
Blue = Lower Wishbone
Green = Track Rod (Tie Rod)
Yellow = Pull Rod

The same from the rear - the Lower Front Wishbone and Pull Rod aren't visible in the photo...

Yea, I think you are right. Oddly, when I first saw the car in the initial presentation pictures (in the McLaren building) I thought I saw a weird 7th link. However, after looking at many pics of the rear suspension, I can only see the 6 links you mention. The dark jumble back there seems to easily confuse the quick impression. A minor note- I think the lower wishbone is probably a pair of independent links rather than a wishbone, but this is irrelevant to your count of 6, and irrelevant to the car's legality.Pup wrote:Seems that here and elsewhere, there is some confusion about what is what on the suspension. This year it is covered by a flap in all cars. If you look closely at the pic, you can see it in the middle of the lower central zone of diffuser.forty-two wrote:Owen.C93 wrote:No separation like last year's Ferrari.

Sorry if this is a stupid question which has already been covered, but where's the starter motor hole on this car? Is that somewhere else entirely on the 2014 formula cars, or does the MGU now serve this function?
