Red Bull RB10 Renault

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

A few guys noticed a small cut out on the rear sidepod or thought it was a burn hole, found an image from the other side of the car and there is another small hole under the 'platform computing logo' not sure it will help anyone. Image

Thanks for the clarification...I thought RBR had a serious problem on it's hands...

so nothing burned through the sidepod, yet it still looks at least a bit scorched to me, one hole looks 'clean' the other one has rough irregular edges - or maybe the RB mechanics aren't that good with drills/angle grinders

Hmm, maybe placing the MGUH between the banks wasn't such a wise idea...
Otherwise I don't see an issue with Renault engines themselves, it must be the packaging.
Up to now I have not seen a car with the sidepods off, so I guess I can't comment on it now.
For Sure!!

FIA said it will investigate about RedBull and Mercedes noses because the tip is made of a flexible material. Can someone explain what is it

RB10 didn't have those holes on Day 1.

Probably quick ad-hoc solution, presumably in vicinitiy of hottest power unit parts.

And maybe the right hole is sprayed with fire extingusher.

Shows RB are right on the limit. I don't think this is such a bad thing (would be nice if the other renault teams could put a bit of mileage on the engine though).

Better to start over the edge and adjust it back to the limit then to start too conservative imo.

Not in a formula where the engines must last for a distance father than they can really simulate in testing reliably.
