I think they are just in a really good place right now and they know it.
It´s almost like you can smell some Mercedes titles in the air just by observing F1 at the moment.
Not saying they will but wherever you look there seems to be this perception that Mercedes is very well set to hunt some titles in 2014.

This combined with the fact that they (and with they I mean especially Toto Wolff) are playing down their chances quite severly makes me quite optimistic aswell. However, only time will tell. It could go either way.

Is it me or are Merc doing a hell of allot more publicity this year? they seem to be trying to make a mark, more active in the public eye, lots of videos being done. I believe they think they are on to something good.

Hülkenberg just told AMuS that the time difference between the soft and medium compund is around a second, and the difference between medium and hard is about the same. While he was on softs when he posted his quickest laptime, Alonso was on medium and Hamilton on the hard tyre.

Given the fact that Lewis did a 20lap-stint following his laptime, I'm pretty impressed already.

I'm starting to worry about Hamilton's deficit in terms of how many laps he's done in testing so far:

Jerez
HAM: 121 Laps (no complete race sim)
ROS: 188 Laps (1 complete race sim)

Bahrain 1st test
HAM: 141 Laps (no complete race sim)
ROS: 174 Laps (1 complete race sim)

Overall
HAM: 262 Laps
ROS: 362 Laps (100 Laps more)


Hopefully Lewis can even that out in the last two tests, every lap matters in these new cars. [-o<

Lewis has come out and said he's trying to break the car, it might mean he completes less laps but at least he'll have a better idea of what the car can cope with.
