interesting that the teams have asked to test pirelli's special winter hard tyre at bahrain
to the optimist a glass is half full ; to the pessimist a glass is half empty ; to the F1 engineer the glass is twice as big as it needs to be

I think it makes sense. They already have some data on the special tires and now they can compare them.

conditions report from ferrari web site:
With the track located on the edge of the desert, temperatures are ideal for testing, currently hovering around the 20 degree mark. Less pleasant is the wind which is blowing hard today, bringing quite a bit of sand onto the track. One cannot therefore expect to see any particularly fast times on the first day, as the surface will be rather dirty.

autosport reporting

Ferrari clearly isn't expecting a big delay here. Fernando Alonso is sat in the F14 T and ready to go.

Hello from sunny Bahrain! The weather today is absolutely great though it is a bit windy. Forecast is for the wind to reduce over the course of the test days and should be perfect testing weather. Here is a page from the local paper showing arrival of drivers yesterday.

Ill try and post pictures if I find them, but the best source so far has been twitter #F1 where lots of people post pics. I am sure today we will be getting lots of pictures as media starts to take photos of testing which was supposed to (seems there is a delay) got underway 20 minutes ago :)

Autosport is again doing their live feed and you can follow there as well.
