They probably use MGU-K for starting the engine. BTW doesn't the nose from side looks quite bulky to you? Or do they have upside down U shape running?

Yeah, that nose looks like a freaking sail to me... I think Scalabroni mentioned something similar a few days after first CAD pictures were posted on twitter, wasn't impressed with it if I remember correctly...

Nice to see they've stuck with asymmetry at the rear!

Single central pillar/DRS actuator mounted to the left of the exhaust...

I think that's because the central pillar looks like it has also the DRD device and they do not want heat there to control the air through the tube

Many interesting details.
These seemes to be an air aoutlet at the outer edge of the upper sidepod lip.
The nose part of the monocoque is actually fairly thin compared to the other Lotuses. But there seems to be a removeable panel under the nose, where the bulckhead meets the thick nose. Many people here anticipated a similar solution...
The leading edge of the floor and its turning vanes look very thick. Even thicker than the previous Enstone-made cars. Does it contain a crash structure? or someting else like electronics?
A vanitly panel is visible at the top of the bulckhead.

To me it looks like a little bit the same as the Caterham solution, but instead of one nose they have two..
esthetically the Lotus solution is fat better!

Is the new gear box lower than the E21?... the upper rear wishbones and the transmission arms have a relatively extreme angle.

It's the angle of the picture I think, check this out:



Scarbs saying the rear wing mount is asymetric so I think the exhaust is in the middle...

EDIT: I don't know now, the more I look at it the more I think maybe it is slightly off center

hmm that Exhaust indeed looks not Central. The Rear Picture on the last Page shows it aswell.

AFAIK that cant be legal. The exhaust must be on the centreline of the car.

my thoughts:
1. it is central and its just optical illusion.
2. They found another cute work around with the rules similar to the nose.
3. its temporarily shifted to one side for testing, away from the RW support pillar because the pillar was overheating.
