Finally Aero has lost his role, we are no planes. Best decision

Domenicalli said some time ago they'll bring a whole new aeropackage to next test - nosejob, wings, all the bits here and there... As to why not bring it now - there's no point. Leave yourself a bit more time to finish the job properly, and chances are you'll have a lot less to fix later...
Didn't he say that last test though, which would mean that it should already be here?

I'm probably wrong on that. I hope they do have something new to bring, I want Ferrari to do well, I want Alonso to get his just rewards.

Second 4 day pre-season test and Ferrari's best is 3 seconds behind the top times.

As much as I like Ferrari, this deficit is insurmountable with just a nose job or some other carbon fibre trinket. If Ferrari and Renault don't come around, we will witness a boring 4 car championship with even Force India putting Ferrari and the rest a lap down.

I recall Bahrain 2 being mentioned... Agreed on Alonso...
And they call it a stall. A STALL!

He also said that it is more important to do as much engine tests as possible before the 28 Feb engine freeze as possible, and then do the aero tests, assuming they are getting very good wind tunnel and track correlation, and are 100% certain that the new aero package will work. So it is just prioritizing the work, with the engine taking preference at the moment. Ferrari also hinted that they have something special aero wise for the last test, if that is indeed so, and not just gamesmanship, it will give the competition less time to copy.

But only time will tell, there is way to many games being played to take anything seriously at the moment, look at the speed-trap and the little bit of sector info - take Fernando on day 2 - he was setting fastest sector times and then backing off in other sectors - that is just sandbagging - flying under the radar - speed is looking good 336.4 km/h I think was being thrown around. But lets wait and see - Melbourne is not that far off :-)

Shame because he was on soft tyres and presumably pushing - would have been nice to know what that would equate to on the Ferrari.

.... still 3 seconds in arrears....
In a race that equates to nearly 2 laps down

You *really* can't say much about times in testing. They're not running final aero, they're not running with engines finalized and so on. For the majority of their testing work running all-out isn't beneficial, running consistently is much more so.

Totally agree. People getting blinded by lap times once again!

What you said about technical aspects also applies to MB and they were rather quick each day and each driver.

If Kimi hadn't crashed I would tend to agree with you. But you can not say that he was not trying to go fast when he did crash can you and 3 seconds at this stage of the game is a tremendous amount.

Looks much better than launch spec, is this the new aero package?

You don't know why Kimi crashed, saying it was because he pushed too hard is entirely baseless speculation. We haven't even seen a video of the crash.

Three seconds at this stage is pretty much nothing, especially when it's quite clear the aero on the ferrari car isn't close to final and that the engine homologation is next week.
