If they are planing on something they wouldn't tell us, would they?

As for MP4-18, it never got B version and was never raced. MP4-18 was a failure, MP4-17D did the whole 2003. and in 2004. McLaren had MP4-19 and MP4-19B later in the season
Elements of the MP4-18 formed the basis of the MP4-19 I believe, so it wasn't a complete waste.
It sort of looks like Newey under estimated the cooling requirements on the Renault Powertrain and packaged the car too tightly as he did with the MP4-18. Only difference is if he's got it as badly wrong as the rumour/fear indicates then they'll need a B spec car for all the corrections, very worst case Newey has to start from scratch. Red Bull shot themselves in the foot by concentrating on the 2013 season, they should have shifted focus much earlier on the 2014 car. Anyway whatever happens this will make the early part of the season quite interesting to watch unfold.

Still, personally I always take the Andrew Benson articles with a pinch of salt...
The rear of the RB10 is quite basic for now so this report doesn't surprise me in my opinion. Certainly the rear wing and mounting solution doesn't look concrete to me but let's wait and see.

I also think they will bring a complete new Aero-Spec for Melbourne as they did last year twice. But can we talk about a RB9-B or RB9-C?
Even if they move some radiators is this a RB10-B? I don't believe they can even do a new chassis homologation.

Lines up with them having racing-start issues, at least - Da Costa doing some drag-starts? 8)

And scarbs has his contacts. But hardly surprising they'd want to play a filming day joker at this point, and away from the other teams because Red Bull.

There are rumors that Red Bull are testing the RB10 in Spain. Which would be a breach on the regulations.

Struggling World Champions Red Bull have denied claims that they are secretly running the troubled Renault-powered RB10 between the two Bahrain tests.

Spaniard Pius Gasso, a respected and reliable Formula 1 source and former racing driver, said that he believes that an RB10 is running at the Idiada facility in Spain, south of Barcelona, ahead of the resumption of official testing later this week in Bahrain.

Gasso even tweeted a link to an audio file of the alleged ‘secret’ testing.

Another source told Speed Week correspondent Matthias Brunner that Red Bull’s Idiada running would be contrary to the tight testing limitations.

“They would only be able to drive at Idiada with a current car if they had declared it a ‘Promotional Event’ as stipulated by the regulations. And the rules say clearly that it would be purely for marketing and PR purposes,” said the source.

A Red Bull spokeswoman said simply: “We are not at Idiada!” (GMM)

Can't believe they'd do this as surely someone would see them. Until there are photos then it's got to be questionable.

Pulling off a secret test in Idiada would be quite a feat. There are hundreds of Idiada and customer personel working there.

Not to mention the B platform there is owned by Mercedes. So I doubt you could run an F1 car there or on the A platform a few hundred meters away without anyone noticing.

Could also be a test of the PU with a mule setup .. carried out by Renault themselves e.g.
but without any decent pics...

Surprised that this engine change was done without a test mule other than probably the Ferrari which we saw in December. The teams could have modified a car for the manufacturer to test as the are not covered by the testing agreement.

The engine development schedule is also strange as they were not ready 6 months back. I remember the BMW engine in early 1999 in preparation for 2000. Renault I guess were too cocky in their ability design a turbo engine. Guess the first thing to do would be to drop the engine name from Energy F1

considering their history of successful F1 engines I'd expect the engine itself is just fine, it is the combo of engine and ERS they have trouble with
