Hi Guys

Thanks to Julien for doing the hangout, sorry i couldn't attend.

I'm looking for some feedback on how we could present the results. Obviously there is the basic version like last year, by releasing them just on a web page/pdf. Has anyone got any other ideas or suggestion they would like to put forward? I guess we are perhaps looking for something a bit more interactive (or along them lines)

The video is available on YouTube at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-1d_uNvi ... ture=share - it has been shorten to 15 minutes...

Can you let me know (email julien@khamsinvirtualracecarchallenge.com) if you intent to join the Hangout on Air on CFD modelling this coming Wednesday? I have to go to work that day and if no-one is planning to attend I am looking at cancelling.

I'll attend if it goes ahead.

Looking at the submission guidelines I think there should be a specific rule to dictate what can and cant be placed in the front wing and rear wing groups, since they have different mesh settings placing other parts in these groups would affect the results.

A question for machin:
Last year you provided some graphs to give us something to aim at for downforce and drag at each track. Will you be doing the same again this year? Also last year these were provided in the form of Cl.A and Cd.A, what value for density should we use to calculate these?

Hi, I have a question about sidepods intake. When the rules says: "Any inlet must be visible in its entirety when viewed from the front of the car (ignoring the front wheel/suspension assembly). The area of each intake must be at least 45000mm^2" it means that I have to consider or not the portion of the intake that is hidden by the front wing?

Unfortunately I have to cancel the Wednesday Hangout on Air. The Saturday one is still on.

Can you list which one? You do not need to install all of them and I would be happy to hear of which one are not working...
Hi Julien i get an error when i load Khamsin, and i need the plugins listed in the picture, should i just search the internet for them? Image

I get the first error as well, it only shows up when using Sketchup 2013 and it doesnt seem to cause any problems, just click OK.

As for the plugins, rather than use the links I googled and installed them all without any issue. If there are any you cant find I'll post the link I used.

Khamsin isnt ready for the latest Sketchup iirc.

Ive said to Google the various things several times, both this season and last :D

gnuplot - http://sourceforge.net/projects/gnuplot ... urce=files
gmsh - 32: http://geuz.org/gmsh/bin/Windows/gmsh-2.8.4-Windows.zip 64: http://geuz.org/gmsh/bin/Windows/gmsh-2 ... dows64.zip
Ensight - You dont need it, if you want t o use it find a torrent, thats what I did when I installed Khamsin the very first time but prefered to use Paraview
curl - http://curl.haxx.se/download/curl-7.35.0.zip
7zip - 32: http://downloads.sourceforge.net/sevenzip/7z920.exe 64: http://downloads.sourceforge.net/sevenzip/7z920-x64.msi
PuTTY - http://the.earth.li/~sgtatham/putty/lat ... taller.exe (dont need this - think its for the remote analysis)
tofrodos - http://tofrodos.sourceforge.net/download/tfd1713.zip
opendFOAM - https://code.google.com/p/bluecfd-singl ... e&can=2&q=

So you have an idea of directories to search once installed and setting up Khamsin:

If you are using windows/bluecfd then you need to do khamsin -> right click -> define -> settings and untick swak4foam on the physical settings tab.

as cdsavage said.
If you looked back a few pages to the long post I did it mentions the Swak4foam problem with BlueFoam. Im currently looking into a Linux install with OpenFoam and then getting Swak4foam so I can do the remote analysis.
Will also take a look at compiling OF and S4F for Windows.

couple of hours, depends on pc spec and mesh size and iterations.

I use 1.225kg/m^3 (15degC @ sea level)

I'll generate some charts for you guys. I'll start right now as I see you have very little time for your first race submissions!
