Mercedes AMG F1 W05

I don't think it's very likely. They started off with a very detailed wing and didn't changed one bit until now on it. Clearly they have a lot of convidence in their current spec, which is a clear evolution from last year. No need to change a good concept.

for me somehow the small wing on the endplate (red circled) seems not "organic". of course, they know what they do, but it's just my feeling. When I compare the previous wings, seems that they are sharing some common elements even without change at first sight.

I made a comparison between RB10 and W05..

It´s obvious that RedBull is doing something strange.

they've gone up in ride height ALOT at the rear.
Additionally they made their diffuser skirts smaller.

maybe 100kg of fuel vs 30kg of fuel ?

Assume the 'T' on top is a mandated height? Seems to be a big difference between Merc and RBR, could be camera angle perhaps?

I don´t think that 70kg of fuel make such a big difference.

1. If sealing the diffuser is so complicated they wouldn´t be able to do that in Qualifying trim (low amount of fuel).
2. If 70 do have such a force to push the suspsension around 30mm The suspension couldn´t be never ever strong enough to withstand the force you get when the weight of the complete car is pushed onto it over bumps or in corners.
when you have the weight multiplied twice or three times.
It would go directly on the mechanical limits.

about the camera angle..

thats Why I´ve made the three lines.

about the picture:
the greenish rectangle shows the size of the rear wing..
I copied it from the W05 and adjusted the RB10s image until the rearwing fitted into this shape.

then I´ve marked where the rear wheel is on the ground and to see if the proportions fit, I´ve put a line ontop of the W05 tire (and you can see, It fits the RB10 as well)

then I made a line on Top of the front wheel.

Because if you have a mismatched perspective, the RBs front wheel would be lower or higher but it seems like the perspective is almost the same!

To be honest, its just testing, so they will be trying all sorts of ride heights and stiffness, They need to know where the limit of the diffuser is after all. So don't look too far into it.

Your lines show how the perspective is different in both photographs. The top of the wings will be the same height from the reference plane. As will the top of the T camera mounting. You can see how there is a disparity between the two cars, which shows how the lens is playing tricks. Red bull clearly have a lot of rake but your comparison photos don't really show that much as the lens tells a lie.

Green ellipse : barge boards like Lotus 2013
Red circle: that`s a sensor, a IR cam or the pickup point of the old sidepod vane?
Note that there are on both sides of the car ...

Has anyone got Hamilton's race distance that he did today lap times?
