'no Choice' On Radical F1 Changes

Post

Max Mosley has denied claims that his rule-changes are up for discussion.

The FIA president said radical reforms like the end of traction control and semi-automatic gearboxes will happen whether the current teams like it or not.

From 1 January 2008, the current Concorde Agreement is no longer in force.

'So the FIA can do whatever it wants,' said Mosley in Imola. 'People just have to decide whether they want to enter the 2008 championship.'

Hard decision.

I do agree on Mosley's point of view. The FIA is the one who should be controlling F1 and deciding what is good for F1, not the manufacturers. Just hope it will come earlier than 2008.

I just don't agree with one thing in the proposal. The regulations should be edited before the 31st of December 2004, are these the Technical regs? If so...it will give the bigger richer teams a 3 year head start. Ferrari with their budget can start designing their 2008 car imidiatly, while a team like minardi can only start drawing it in 2007, unless the opte to but their 2008 car from someone else! If the rules were brought to public in mid 2007 every team would be in the same starting position on their 2008 car....while editing them now will make create a "pole-position" on the 2008 car development for the richer teams, while the smaller teams will be kept in the back due to financial reasons.

I think one manufacturer expressed the no bargain situation quite well(Cant remeber which one or who said it though) "It will be quite hard for them to run without engines" or something like that, anyway I think there will be a lot of bargaining done and Im not so sure that we have seen the last of TC and other electronic gizzmos.
