The 322,3 kph of Force India were achieved without DRS as it did not work on the Force India, the article says. 322,3 doesn't sound too slow, what would DRS add?
If true, why don't they have a working DRS? . Did they really never had it operational in Bahrain? Will it work in Australia?
How many offical DRS zone did they have last GP and in testing in Bahrain? How many secs are they worth?

I thought the Ferrari got that speed after a nice tow down the straight? Kravitz reported it?

Very interesting. This is the first time that I'm hearing about a malfunctioning DRS-flap on the FIF1's, where did you acquire this intel? The only thing that I know for certain is that FIF1 is running a very long gear ratio.

Weird list...
The difference in top speed between Ferrari and the other teams using the same engine is astonishing...
No amount of tow can account to that...

Renaults aren't completely terrible

When they sort out the problems with the software and have the emergency programs in the software they will have no problems with these resistors anymore.
The PUs are homologated now, so if they can't fix absolutely everything via software they are out of luck till next season.
Assuming software changes are going to magically make everything better is naive, so they are most likely going to have to make packing changes to allow for better cooling.

So why are Redbull or Mercedes running nearly the same rake as last year?
last time I checked, none of the teams published rake numbers. Thus, it's pure conjecture they are running the same amount of rake, because comparing photos can be very very misleading.

Yes, I want real competition not artificial competition.

As AMuS said, many teams are not using the full power of the ERS (STR, RBR, Lotus, Marussia, Sauber). According to them, the RBR and Lotus are only extracting 80ps from the KERS, but I dont know where they come with that number from.

Believing that packing changes will solve the problems is naive. Caterham with different, larger packing has basically the same problems but was lucky to get a perfect working battery for the first test.
By the way, which "packing" do you want to change? Engine cooling is not the problem, the car failed often in the first round. The MGUs sit where they sit, this is already homologated and the battery has to sit below the tank by the rules...

They run rake or not? The actual number does not play a role, it differed in the last years a lot. But the concept of creating downforce stays, no matter if they seal the diffusor with exhaust gases or with the rear brake cooling.

We will see what this gives us. If the Mercedes PU is so dominant, that all Merc powerd cars are in front, F1 will be already in danger this year.

AMuS on Ferrari:

Are they bluffing or just cautious?

http://translate.google.de/translate?sl ... ml&act=url

If true what

Kansas wrote in the F14 T thread they are cautious:
from scuderia.net, dom from tv interview

- we have problems with rear tyre degradation
- engine too aggressive and too much torque
- we have problems running batteries at full power and we run during tests without full power (not cause we wanted to but cause we weren't able to do so)
- we lack in traction in slow corners and downforce in high speed corners
- we must run low downforce due to fuel consumption.
- Our engine has higher consumption and we are forced to run low downforce to reduce drag. In fact we recorded top speed but we are slow in cornering.
- Overall rumors agree we are far behind mercedes (more than 1s)
- Domenical in tv said we are behind mercedes and williams.. and not by a small margin. Focus is already on catching the competition

Why do you keep mentioning that list of made up BS? Because thats what it is. It´s basically a collection of all the rumours said about the F14 T during pre season, made up to look as if it was said oficially. THERE IS NO SOURCE.

yes, photos can be very misleading but the videos less so. Mercedes is running some rake but nowhere near what you see in RB10. I would even dare to say that maybe RB10 has more rake than RB9

That alleged Domenicalli interview seems like a fake to me, albeit I believe in most of the things said there. It just seems a TP would never open such concerns to the public :?

I read this list of made up bullsh*t today for the first time. If it is bullsh*t for you ignore it and only read the AMuS article.
The article is written by the best connected German F1 journos, and they speculate about Ferrari beeing cautious or sandbagging even asking Mercedes for their evaluation....maybe this is also made up bullsh*t for you! Speculating about the strange Ferrari testing results. Have a nice day.

I remind you that in the golden age of F1 there were only 2 engine suppliers
and one of them supplied only one team...

With "golden age" you mean the time when you couldn't watch F1 hardly on TV? I would not call this golden age...but ok...

I would not have a problem with a standard engine. The problem is, that in this "golden age" teams came and went as they wanted and everyone had the chance to get the Ford engine and it was not dominant.
Today we have the problem, that Mercedes and Ferrari will not supply Lotus, RB or TR. So they have to stick to Renault or maybe Honda...but if all goes wrong we will end up with 7 teams left in F1.
