He must be doing an direct comparison of the two while driving. Those mirrors look quite good. Well, that car looks simply stunning.

4 mirrors mean 4 times more advert place - and finally more money.
that's the reason :D

they tried these mirrors in the Bahrain test too, the outer pair have been reinforced with an extra strut. I guess they want a comparison of the inner and outer pair.

4 mirrors for advertising reasons, Hmm I feel the strange hypnotic desire to go buy something from Aigo...!

P.S. Remember when Mclaren tried mirror pods with three differently angled mirrors inside on the MP4-17.

It's the oldest trick in the book .. give guys something obvious to google over so the real secret bits go undetected. Check out the different sized chimneys and the rear upper suspension bits as the those are far more important than some mirrors.

It appears to me McLaren are undecided on accepting mirrors futher outboard, and still collecting data and driver input. Zulu's picture not only shows two sets of mirrors, but probably as important, testing in the wet. Who knows, maybe they need to know if the drivers can see anything from tire spray in the wet. Then again, you probably see squat to the rear in the wet, no matter how many mirrors or their location.
But for now, running such a unique setup keeps McLaren up front in the fan's eyes, and that keeps the sponsors happy.

Ah, I see it now. I remember someone saying last year that BMW was using the vertical wings as a diversion for other developments, but you can definitely see the difference in shape with the engine chimneys.

If you look at the slots on the top side of the F2007, you'll notice similar cooling-assymmetry. The left exhaust is even slightly further back than the right.
[EDIT]Nothing as clear as a picture :)

Taken from f1-live.com:

"Lewis Hamilton's MP4-22 in testing at Sepang last week featured no fewer than four rear-view mirrors.

The English rookie, however, had not simply requested a better view of the cars behind him.

Instead, it emerges that the two extra mirrors - mounted on the top of the MP4-22's sidepods - were designed to give 22-year-old Hamilton an easy glimpse of engine smoke.

Italian sources report that Mercedes Benz engineers wanted to test and push the limits of the V8 engine on the Malaysian layout. Catching an engine failure early makes it easier to investigate.

Hamilton, who finished third on debut in Australia last month, stopped trackside at Sepang on both Thursday and Friday with oil leaks."

I'm sure it's another April Fools' joke. In the french language version (which I usually check, since I find it better written and more in-depth than the english one), f1-live announced the purchase of Mr. Mateschitz's parts of Toro Rosso by Alain Prost...

Good one, yeah. But I really saw quite a few pictures with this. So, I guess it's not a joke?
