McLaren will run with a special one-off livery at this weekend's Formula 1 season-opening Australian Grand Prix.

With the team hoping to announce a new title sponsor later this season, it has decided to run in Melbourne with a unique colour scheme to honour the 20th anniversary of its technical partnership with oil supplier Mobil.

The sidepods and rear wing of the MP4-29 will feature the logos and branding of Mobil and its Mobil 1 products.

Artis Brown, global motorsports manager of Mobil 1, said: "We are proud to celebrate our relationship with McLaren this weekend and we are looking forward to an exciting season."

As was mentioned twice already.

Side of the side pod..

I might have preferred they used a color Mobil logo.

They desperately need some sponsors though...

Not sure if this is off-topic, I believe that it would be better if it where posted in the team thread.
McLaren already do have sponsors, lots of them.

To say McLaren desperately need sponsors is wrong. If they even need a title sponsor is arguable.

I wouldn't be surprised if this Mobil anniversary livery has been planned for quite some time.
Finally, everyone knows that Red Bull is a joke and Max Verstappen is overrated.

But wouldn't the Sony logo look beautiful on a silver car with black sidepods? ;D

its just a pity Sony can't afford to http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-25908494
I wouldn't pay any attention to credit reports - try running McDonalds through Dunn & Bradstreet! Sony are a very large corporation

Remember the year that the drivers had different overals for each race?
Maybe the car will offer each of it's sponsors a chance to be "title sponsor for a weekend" for an extra charge.
Next race could be akebono, the other TAG (that's the one i'd love to see)
For Sure!!

A Red and White Akebono-liveried 29 running at Suzuka will be great!

BTW, how about a Silver and Red McLaren-Mercedes for the German Grand Prix?

The McLaren paint shop is gonna be real busy if the above happens...............until they land their big-money title sponsor.

New rear wing sponsor, ASOS; title sponsor "in due time"...
Stuart Codling - F1 Racing: Eric, you've added a new sponsor to your rear wing without much in the way of fanfare. Could you explain the significance of that and maybe shed some light on your quest for a title sponsor. Are you closer to announcing something? I think Ron said the other week that it would be in the next few events. Are we closer to firming something up there?

Boullier: We lately signed a new sponsor which is good news and we are happy to welcome ASOS which is an on-line fashion retailer. I think it's in nine languages delivering to 234 countries - I know my figures. It's obviously very exciting for us. It's a huge company selling clothes and selling all stuff like fashion stuff.

Regarding the other part of the question, we will soon announce... we will hope to sign soon a title partner. We are not in a rush to announce it until everything is closed and done but it's going to be done in due time.
I'd never heard of ASOS, which probably betrays my age, but $1.25B in sales and 4000 employees - it's a decent operation.

Another announcement of future announcement of sponsors ;-)

One thing has changed, Dennis prefers Hamilton (there's a surprise) as a driver who's-not-going-to-drive-for-us-in-the-near-future-we-like-to-talk-about. Alonso must be devastated. What else is new? Boullier is sort of TP, Neale is temporary forever chief something.

You'd have preferred him to not answer the question?

No, no preferences, I'm indifferent to McLaren sponsor situation, I'm sure they'll have a sponsor sooner or later. Anyway I was rather thinking about earlier big announcement by R. Dennis. You know big set up - what will he say? Same old, since March 2013 (no irony only long time).

He did, didn't he?

The car still needs work, but it looks reliable and drivable, which, along with execution, is exactly what they needed to get the results they got today.

Today's result will do a lot for motivation. It will instill confidence in the car, the drivers, and Boullier.

I think it was Boullier (or Button?) who said there are more updates coming for Malaysia ;)

Was in the garage most of the time. I don't think he will be able to hold back from popping over to the pit wall.

Something pleased and worried me at the same time... Button only made up places due to good strategy and other people messing up. So I'm pleased that there was a good strategy but worried that Button couldn't overtake people.
